renting points questions-need info please

I currently have reservations and it won't be possible for us to use them Some of the points are borrowed from our next use yr (June 2009). I am not that familiar with the renting of points. Should I try to rent the dates we have reserved or just try to transfer the points? If I rent the reservations can I change the names on them without any problem.

Is $10 a point the going rate? It appeared to be from what I saw on the rental board. It looks like most people are looking for holiday dates. Should I just cancel and bank those I can and lose the rest-it doesn't look like many posts over there are closed after a successful transaction.

Reservations, I think, can't be posted on the board until about 30 days from the visit.

If it were me, I'd cancel the ressie with the non-borrowed points and keep them for myself. For the borrowed points, I'd post that exact number of points for rent (keep the ressie until you've rented the points...). If you don't rent any points, I'd list the ressie at 30 days out.

I think $10-$12 is the going rate. Changing names isn't hard, just call MS and give them the names/ages of the people that will be using the room. I would cancel and bank any points that you can and leave the other reservation alone for now.

One other thought, if you can't rent the points/reservation is there a charity/fundraiser that you could donate the reservation to as a prize? Our HS booster club just had a golf tournament to raise money, with a raffle. A weekend in a studio at VWL would have been a great prize and I'm sure would have helped sell more tickets

Maybe you wern't aware, but borrowed points cannot be transferred. Nor can banked points be transferred. Only current year points can be transferred.
