Renting Points Question

First off, This is my first post on these boards and I hope to post much more in the future.

Second, I hope this question is in the right place. If not; please feel free to move it to the apprporiate forum.

Now, for my question: For our next trip to WDW; DW and I are interested in possibly renting DVC points from someone. We want to stay in a studio at SSR during the 'choice' time period. Could somebody please explain the process of me renting points from somebody(from initial looking to completion of trip). Basically I want to know the proper way to let others know when, where and what I need. Sorry if I sound dense; but I've not had experience with this before and want to make sure I do this right from the beginning. TIA

The DVC Rent board has "sticky" threads that list the general guidlines for inquiring about renting. We rented points this past March and stayed at SSR. Our renting experience was fantastic. Depending on the individual, they may ask you to sign a contract. We didn't have to. The owner made the ressie and gave us the confirmation # and mailed the original when he received it. We transfered the money to him via paypal. Everyone's payment terms are different. Our's was half upfront and half 30 days prior to check-in.

There is certainly trust by both parties in this type of transaction.

Your best bet is to read the rent/trade board and the sticky notes.
