renting points from someone/not wanting her home resort though

I'm not sure if this is the right board to post this question but I was wondering what my chances are of getting the new AKV(2 bedroom) booked for next Sept. 2009? I have a friend who is willing to sell me points but her "home" resort is not AKV. I understand that I'd only have 7 mths. out from my vacation dates to get this particular villa. Will that be enough time in advance to have a chance at this? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

Assuming you don't need a value or concierge room, I'd guess (and that's all we can do) you have an extremely good shot there being rooms at the 7 month mark for AKV next September. It's unlikey to be booked up.

It may depend the percentage of Kidani Village that is sold. Any not sold will be open to CRO to sell and not available on points. Sept normally would be a good time to go. And if all the current AKV members decide that is the time they want to go, att 7 months it might be hard.

OOPS!! My bad! I meant that we'd be vacationing the end of July or beginning of August. My sister and I are going this Sept. and I keep getting both vacations mixed up. Anyway, I would just need 5 nights in the AKV 2 br. I'm hoping to get this. I know I need a backup plan.
Anyone know if any of the existing villas have been refurbished lately?

No need for refurbishment at AKV, they are brand spanking new.

Or are you asking about other locations?

Individual rooms are constantly taken out of service when they become worn and in need of refurbishment. It's really the luck of the draw though, you may get one that is toward the end of the cycle and a little tatty or you may end up with one that is fresh as a daisy. It's completely unpredictable.

Since the villas are designed to run at a higher capacity they don't tend to take down large blocks of rooms for refurbishment at the same time like they do at the hotels.

Is this something I could ask at time of booking? Would they know which rooms had been update lately?
