Renting points for July '07

I'm looking to rent points in late July '07. It would be 1 week for a 2BR at BWV or BCV. I have a few questions.

a. There will be 8 of us, (Me, DD20, DS17)(DS, DBIL, nephews 10,8,5). If we rent points are we charged an extra fee per adult, per night like with the other resorts?

b. When should I start asking for the reservation?

c. Do either party ask for references? I understand there is an element of trust happening, but it seems a bit scary.

d. When a reservation is made, who's name is it in? My name or the person making the reservation?

Thanks for your input. Sorry if these questions seem silly, I'm just new to the option of renting points.

a. no extra adult charges wirh points reservations

b. A member can make the reservation at their home resort at 11 months from checkout. Start looking now if you are serious about this.

c. If you wish.

d. Your name should be on the reservation. The owner will have full control over the reservation until you check in. They can change or cancel it at any time. As the non-member you have no control over the reservation.

Thank you, for the fast reply. Is it difficult to get a 2BR that time of year?

Now we just need to nail down the date and I can start planning!!!

We were able to secure a 2BR at BCV at 7 months out this year...leaving in 8 days.

If you are looking for a BoardWalk or Standard View at BWV, try to line up a BWV owner who can book you those rooms at 11 months. So go ahead and post on the RTB.

One thing, if you want access to Stormalong Bay, you need to book BCV. You can pool hop over to the BW pool, but not vice-versa.

Non-members are not entitled to pool hopping benefits unless they are staying with a member who is staying on points.

dvc points unlike WDW rates do not go down July 5.

the dvc points stay the same from June 11 until August 15.

so if you want to be there on July 4 - heck go for it. the points are cheaper Sun-thur (checking out fri). you don't want to rent fri/sat too expensive.

Good luck on renting, but watch out it can get you hooked. I did and now own.

Thank you, for your replies. I think we are looking at the end of July. Just waiting for the rest of the group to to dates, and then I get to plan a vacation!!!
