Renting or transfer

It's been a while since I've rented out points but I'm getting ready to again. Is transferring preferred by members? Has anyone sold points recently- how did it go?

I would prefer a transfer . Although I haven't done either yet . I would like the transfer cause I wouldn't want to have a stranger making my reservations .

If I am ever in need of more points, transferring is the way I would go. The points become mine and then I have control of whatever reservations are made with them.

I am new to the DVC ownership but I think I would prefer transfer just because of the reasons mentioned above - you are in control of your own reservations. On the flip side though, it might open you up to more people by renting them.

Just a comment, the Disboards has been very careful about not violating any DVC rules except for one--they allow posts of rentals for transfers of points. I don't get it? It very plainly says we cannot receive money for points that are transferred. So why is this rental activity allowed? Everybody just winks and ignores that it's a violation of DVC rules.

From the Home Resort Rules and Regs under Transfers - II 6 j. Club Members are expressly prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any Transfer activity.

Oh dear. I never knew that. I rented one year as I was unable to use my points. And here I was scouting to see of i could rent some add on points for a large family vacation next year. Maybe I should think again:
