Renting few points for a short stay?

Hello everyone. I'm new to this board. I'm very much a Disney World freak, not my husband. I can't convince him to buy into DVC (tried every argument you all have suggested to others). In fact, it's taken me 4 1/2 years to convince him to go to Disney World! Ugh!

We went for a weekender in February with our then 11 month old twins (we stayed off-site). I've managed to convince him to go for another weekender (without the twins) to Food and Wine festival in October (wine is his thing). I wanted to see if I could rent us a DVC studio so that he can see what DVC has to offer. He needs tangible evidence of the value of DVC.

Is it too ambitious to try to rent so few points (enough for one or two nights) for such a popular event in so little time? What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

No - it's not too ambitious. However, renting points for Friday and Saturday nights is almost always more expensive than paying cash - especially if you are lucky enough to snag a discount. Availability could be a problem since the 7 month window has passed for October. However, you will probably be able to get Friday and Saturday nights for points because many members won't use points for weekends - too expensive relative to the weekday nights.

Anyway, I'd suggest you book your weekend for cash in a DVC studio - and then talk to your DH about how much less it would cost (over time if you go every year, LOL) to join DVC.

I would also suggest you stay at the resort that is most likely to impress HIM. If he likes nightlife, but doesn't care about being able to walk to parks, stay at SSR. If he likes nightlife and wants to walk to the parks, stay at BWV or BCV. If he's an avid golfer, maybe a stay at OKW will impress him most. Make the best impression for HIM that you can.

I was actually thinking of a Sunday, Monday stay (since it is more expensive then a Friday, Saturday stay.

Pefect - but now you have to get cracking asap to get a reservation! Once you're sure of your dates (if you can be flexible, that's even better), post what you want over on the Rent/Trade Forum. Be sure and read all the "Sticky" threads at the top of the Forum before you post.

Best wishes -
