Renting ECV offsite vs parks in early Sept

I'm 4 months preggo and have had some complications with the pregnancy lately that may prevent me from even going on our trip but if my dr does ok the trip (I'll find out more for certain next week) a ECV might be required or at least strongly suggested. I plan on discussing this more throughly with him. Anyway I've read on the boards that the ECV's from the parks tend to get rented fairly quickly in the day (like by mid-morning) we plan on park hopping a bit and also just may need to return to resort throughout the day I know I if I rent through the parks I can get another one with no extra charge but I'm worried about the availibility. Does anybody have any experience with the ECV demand in early Sept. I know its a slow time of year and hoping this means that the availibility will be better I know renting from offsite would be cheaper but I'm not sure I'll need one everyday and also am concerned about the hassle of busses and other transporation. Physically I can walk/move around perfectly fine and could do the whole parks without problem (but it could jeoperrdize the pregnancy) so getting to and from the parks on my own power isn't an issue. Any advice is greatly appreciated at this point and I hope those of you who've had more experience can help me out.

I would just rent it and save yourself the walking. If you want to walk, you can park the ECV somewhere, walk around that section, get back on it and drive to the next one. Why take a chance with your pregnancy? I guess I live by the boy scout motto, "Always be prepared" or was that the Honey Nut cheerios bee? Anyway, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Try going to the mall, Wal-mart, Target, etc and getting one there and seeing if you like driving it. That would give you a better idea how you will do in the crowds, etc. Good luck! Hope the pregnancy goes well.

I don't think you would have a problem getting one in mid-morning that time of year, but don't know about getting one later in the day or if you park hop.
It's hard to say. Because it's not as busy in September, some people with disabilities actually choose to come then. If they rent ECVs in the parks, there is more demand. If they rent from off-site, there will be more left.

I would conside getting one from offsite. There is so much walking at Disney that has nothing to do with the parks. Just getting around resorts and from the park out to transportation. It is not worth the chance.
Plus most places are less expensive a smaller three wheel. and you can carry a small cooler in with water and needs for the day and not carry them.

I would use it everyday, don't be a hero. it is hot there, you can easily walk miles in a day everyday....so sore a back ache, swollen feet, sweat from hormones, etc. Everyone has a better trip when not worrying over scooter availability!
My neice was carrying twins and wanted to be a hero, young healthy, that lasted about 6 hours.

Hi I am disabled and need a ECV so I am going to hire one from offsite I had a quote for 20 days rental at $326.00 inc of tax,do you think thats a good price ?.

That is $16.30 per day. Disney charges $45.00 per day and most of the off-site vendors run in the $30 range per day for the first week, dropping to about $25 per day for the second week. It sounds like a very good price.

Just wondering, what company will you be renting from and do you know what brand/model you will be getting?

I would also encourage renting from offsite. Yes, it can be a little awkward with transportation, but protecting your baby is the most important thing right now. And like the pp's said, the resorts require more walking than you might think Plus, September can be very hot and humid, and you're at increased risk for dehydration because of the baby; and he or she's at increased risk if you become dehydrated. I'm sure this isn't the pregancy you expected, and it's requiring you to adapt in ways that you weren't prepared for, but I promise, it's all worth it in the end.
