Renting DVC - MagicBands, ADRs & FP+?

Renting points for the first time and very excited!!! Put in my request for BCV studio just the other day for April 2018 (11 months out). I was told it may take a while and less then 2 days I got an email that my 8 night, 9 day reservation was made!! Now just have to wait over 300 days but who's counting!!!!

Reading about everyone else renting points for their upcoming vacations is really making me jealous! ;) I can't wait for it to be my turn. Congrats on getting exactly what you wanted! And I'm definitely counting (or rather the app on my phone is keeping count for me, haha!) 346 days to be exact.

I'm a little anxious about the heat/humidity in May...we've never been to Orlando any later than mid-April and it was pretty warm then! I usually prefer to go in the cooler months, but we're going to try Discovery Cove and a (short) cruise for the first time and we wanted the weather to be warm enough that being wet wouldn't be unpleasant. :) Hope we don't regret that decision!

IMO April/May are some of the best months to visit Disney World weather wise!!! I guess in the glass half full way of looking at things we shouldn't be complaining no matter when it is since we are in Disney!! lol :) I looked at my app today and the exact number of days is 326 and I can't wait!!! Wishing you lots of luck with your reservation!!

You're so right, any trip to Disney World is a great trip! I'm just a wuss when it comes to the heat, but we usually take mid-day breaks anyway so we won't be out during the hottest parts of the day. And I'm looking forward to riding Splash Mountain which I usually skip when we go during the winter months. There are definitely upsides to an early May trip!

Just wanted to follow up and say that we got our reservations booked for Saratoga Springs today! :) Thanks again for all of the advice and answers! The whole process was super quick and easy. It's finally starting to feel "real" now that I have a reservation listed in MDE. Only 334 more days...

:)We plan on renting early May 2020 for our 35th wedding anniversary
Looking for a DVC studio at the Boardwalk villas
We will use Davids to try to secure around May 2019. ;)

April will be a wonderful time to be at BCV. Enjoy. Do not forget to spend time enjoying the wonderful resort and Boardwalk area.

Ok, I'm trying to follow

My parents would be renting DVC.
My family is staying at a different resort.
But I have a few questions

1. How do my parents get their magic bands? I read on the first page the come with the rental? I'm guessing they then hook them up to their tickets.

2. My parents would like to get my husband and I access to the Dvc for our little one to possibly Nap while we are in Epcot. Just one of us could just take him back to rest. Their DVC is up to 5 people so I don't think we would be violating anything.
However, my concern is would this screw up My family's resort/dining?

Is there a way around this so one of us could go take our him to take a rest at their DVC room while there?

1. Your parents should get a confirmation email from the owner who provided the rental to them, they then need to enter that number into their MDE account (My Disney Experience Account. This will be the same account that their park tickets will be connected to, along with the meal plan.

2. The easiest way would be for you parents to let your child into the room for the nap. If your parents put you on the reservation, you will have to pay for the dinning plan for everyone who is staying in the room, thus paying for 2 meal plans for you and your wife and child. Or just switch bands with them during nap times.

They don't have the dining plan , but My family has it at a different resort. My concern with switching is that they could be on a ride or in a restaurant or even at a different park. Plus, I think that may get confusing.

The magic bands have your names on them on the backside of the band. You can also customize this name in your MDE.

I'm not sure how Disney feels about people switching bands in this instance. Your parents might ask about getting an additional room key/card.

Thanks!
Yeah , that's an idea cause I don't want to mess anything up! I didn't know you could still get those!

The problem with switching magic bands would be if you want to rejoin the group that is in the park. The park ticket would not match the finger scan. I would explain the situation to the front desk, and as Matty81 suggested, have them get an extra room key card. Also, if hey have a magic band from a previous visit, it may still be activated and you could use it for room entry, but be sure to also keep your own for park re-entry.

I forgot about the finger scan, which they do when you enter the park. I'm guessing that asking for an extra room key might be then best bet.

FYI - David's will let you submit the request up to 30 days in advance of the 11-month booking window. We have used them several times with great success; to include a rented trip at BCV next March. :)

Is there a way for the little one to be on BOTH reservations? (or just on the grandparents')? If they're under 3, their band is basically an extra room key. We do this with our under 3 so then if we leave them with a sitter, etc, that is the room key we leave behind. Even little ones over 3 don't need a finger scan to enter the parks - not sure at what age they start needing a scan, but last year our then-4-yo only scanned her band and not her finger.

IF you can put the little one on both room reservations, then I'd suggest getting a different color band for each resort and customizing with a slightly different name on the back.
