Renting CARES harness?

We'll be flying out next May to the World. DD will be 2 1/2. We'll be taking DME from the airport to our resort so we're really wanting to avoid dragging along a car seat. I was looking into taking a CARES harness for the plane, but noticed they retail $75 and are maybe $30ish cheaper on ebay. This will more than likely be the only trip we need one since we don't fly too often and DD will more than likely be old enough to not need it the next time we do fly. I saw there are a couple of companies where you can actually rent them for a fairly good price. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with them.

My son was a crazy beast, but was able to sit just fine on the plane with the lap belt at not much older than 2.5. I was glad I didn't spend the money on a harness like that.
