I am an AAA member but my husband is not. When filling out reservation through AAA, they are asking for the driver's name which will be primarily my husband and the my membership number. Is this going to be a problem? Thanks.

Doesn't this mean that you're both AAA members? Maybe I'm confused, but my husband and I are both members as a couple . . . one acct, one yearly bill. . . we are going in Feb. and renting a car for a day trip to Kennedy Space Center and it wasn't an issue.

No, I only have the single person membership. I had this since I was single and never changed when I got married.

Technically your husband does not have AAA therefore he is not entitled to use AAA to book a car. Its a service to those who pay for AAA. "IF" they ask to see his AAA and can not produce one in this name you will be forced to rebook at a "walk up rate" which is much higher than booking online ahead of time. Why chance it.

What you say makes sense. At one time, my husband's car needed jumping and I was able to use my card to call AAA to jumpstart his car, took my AAA card's number and everything was fine. I just don't know what the protocol was with renting cars if it's the same way. Thanks.

when I have booked through AAA, you have to enter your membership number and the driver's info. My guess would be that it is non transferable but might make it through the booking process unless they verify info. That being said, I have been asked to show my card with Thrifty but not with Hertz. I found this on the Hertz website. Looks like you can book the ressie in your name and add him on as an authorized additional driver if using Hertz.

Exceptions

AAA - Spouse/Domestic Partner* of AAA members are not required to have a separate AAA membership in order to receive the free AAO privileges. For other rentals, the AAO fee is also waived when both the renter and the AAO are AAA members. https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/rese...rentalTerms.jsp?KEYWORD=OPERATORS&EOAG=MSPT11

We used AAA and with Hertz the additional driver was free. But, I think it's only Hertz.
