Hi All,

We are going to get married on the Disney Cruise Line in September next year, however we want to spend a few days in the 'world' before boarding the ship.

I have a few questions:

1) How safe is it to rent points?
2) How early should I book?
3) What are 'fair' payment terms?
4) Can I use Magical Express?

I will be travelling with my mother, father and brother as well as my bride to be so we would be interested in a 2 bedroom or 2 studios.

Regs,

I'll answer the easy one right off the bat - you can use ME!
As far as the other - the terms are set by the person renting out their points - So basically - whatever they think is fair. Then you have to decide whether you want to work with that person. As an example - we require payment in full at the time of the reservation with no cancelation - we'll rebook if needed for new dates(within the DVC limitations) - but no refunds.
As far as it being safe - There is certainly a level of trust that is needed on both sides. The owner of the points controls the reservation until you check in - up to the very minute. So - obviously - the concern always is that you pay everything and then show up with no where to stay. But I believe problems are pretty much nill here. The owner has to trust you to. Once the reservation is made - they have to trust you to pay. Staying on their points - they are also liable for damages to the room.
I would say - look on the rent/trade board for what you need, check out the other posts by that person, and get a hard copy of a contract from them. I would also recommend communicating by phone at least once.
Hope all of that helps!

and yes, you can use the Magical Express as long as it is still offered. Congratulations and good luck! If you are going to be on your honeymoon...I'd suggest getting 2 Studios...you'll have privacy then!
