Has anyone does this? What has your experience been like?

So I think I am booking a rental car right now.. for $40 more I don't have to bring the car seat with me.. should I do it? And just rent one?

...Hertz. took the bus shuttle to the rental place...it was easy and we will do it again.

We have used Thrifty several times and will use them again and again. They(like all LAX Companies) have shuttles that run back and forth to their facility. It takes a couple of min to get to them. You can also check out carrentals.com website to see the prices of all LAX rental companies in one place.

Done it before without trouble. My only compliant is the rude people at LAX and the overall nasty LAX experience. Have done it before and I am sure I will do it again. Used both Avis and Alamo, never trouble with either.

I get a discount through Costco.. its less then $80 to have the whole time.. sounds pretty good to me. It's through Alamo.. any one know anything about them at LAX

I don't think I would. Your daughter's 5, right? Does she use a full car seat or a booster at home? Every airline that I've ever flown on checks car seats/boosters for free, so a checked baggage fee won't be adding to the expense. (If she weighs at least 40 lbs) You can get her the high-rated Evenflo Amp backless booster for about $25 - that's the seat we use for my 6-yr-old when we fly (she uses a high-back booster or a full car seat at home still), simply because its so much easier to lug around. It would be cheaper than renting one and you would have a good travel booster until she doesn't need one anymore. We also have a different (can't remember the name of it right now) backless booster w/ a 30 lbs minimum for my 4-yr-old (we only use it for air travel though, she still uses full car seats at home).

She does ride in a 5 point harness but I was thinking more about it.. and if I get there and then even though I reserved it if they don't have one (I'm sure it happens) then I'm screwed. SO I will just bring hers. She is 44 lbs but she wont be in a booster till she is 60 lbs. so yea.. I guess I'll just deal with her heavy one lol

Thanks for your help! :)

I think that's the best idea if you want to keep her in a harness, since most harnessed seats only go to 40 lbs, chances are a rented one would be a booster.

Yea, the more I thought about it the more I was stressing if something were to go wrong and piss me off lol
