Renting a car at MCO to return at MIA

I'm planning on picking up a car at MCO from a Friday, and returning it to MIA on Monday. Which would be the cheapest way of doing this? I see on the discount sites (Expedia, etc) that there is an Economy Rental and a SIXT rental, but both of those say they require a shuttle to get to. How much of a hassle are these? Or should I just bite the bullet, pay twice as much, and get one from Alamo or Enterprise which are inside the terminal? If I go the route of Economy or SIXT, has anyone ever returned those at a different site than pick-up and is that easy to do?

Thanks! :)

We did this in October and went through Alamo. Can you Google map the distance of the shuttle ride and than add wait time to determine the reasonability of that plan? Just an idea. Good luck!

Just make sure there isn't a drop charge for not returning the car to the location you rented it from.

Drop charges may vary even with the same company depending on time of year.

Keep checking back to see what pricing you get.

Better to book directly with the rental company instead of through an on line third party like Expedia.

We always rent from Alamo, super easy you scan your receipt and pick up your car! It's right there near baggage claim. I got mine for $17 a day this year, dropping off at the Disney Car Care center which then shuttles us to wherever we want to go. Sign up for the Alamo Insiders, we used the Entertainment Book's coupon it was better. Southwest also offers discounts as does Undercover Tourist if you but tickets from them. I have never found a better deal thru Expedia or Orbitz, etc.

My best deals have always been through Costco. Even with them the price changes so it is good to keep checking back. When you reserve the car it will show if there is an extra fee to drop it off elsewhere.

I booked thru Alamo to pick up at Ft Lauderdale and returned to MCO. I used a couple codes that, combined, were pretty decent. I kept checking and about 5 or 6 weeks out, my rate was less than half. Keep trying. It may be better than using a lesser known company off site.
