I was reading on the Disney Resort board about someone interested in renting a room for the benefits of the EMH's and the free parking. I remember a while back there was some discussion of this here..and frankly I found it hard to believe that someone would actually do this. Yet apparently it is true. I suppose the poster isn't the first to think of it..and I wonder does FW have a policy regarding this. Are you actually able to book a site, and not occupy it? Some seem to think that as long as it's paid for, it doesn't matter what you do with the site. Is this the case? Doesn't seem right. :sad2:

Boy...I'm surprised that no one here on the camping board knows if FW has a policy regarding this.:confused3

As to the question...Yes, it seems you can book a site and not occupy it. I say "seems" because I have never seen anyone admit to such a despicable practice. This topic comes through this board every week or two and occasional has started some pretty fierce arguements so maybe everyone has said their piece before now.
Usually this thread progresses with the DIS campers weighing in on one side or the other, and the debate usually ends with someone replying ... "If WDW doesn't approve they could make a requirement that the site be occupied".
Sorry your stab at instigation didn't get everyone as rowled up as they usually are. Maybe they're all at the fort enjoying themselves instead of talking about being at the fort enjoying themselves!:flower3:

Whoa....sorry I asked.:sad2: Wasn't trying to stir anything up or "stab" or "instigate". I saw the questioned posed on the Resorts board..and there is quite the debate going on regarding the issue. As you indicated..most feel it's a perfectly fine thing to do. I did in fact post that they'd likely get quite the opposite response from those on the camping board. I honestly just wanted to know if FW or the powers that be at Disney had a specific policy that addresses this situation. I've only seen the issue raised her in a post not specific to the EMH's..and questioned whether it was really worth it, and frankly didn't believe someone would go to the trouble...until I read about it earlier today. I'm sorry to hear there isn't a policy in place regarding this. Thanks for the info.;)

Along this same line...when we were at FW in April, there was a big coach parked on the site next to us. For five days we never saw anyone there. On the day our sons were to arrive, a guy showed up in the morning and took his time packing up and the last thing he did was wash the whole coach. He finally pulled out at noon. :confused3 BTW, there were Florida plates on the coach. This site turned out to be where they put my sons.

Technically....yes it can be done. There is no FW official policy against not occuping a site.

Is it a nice thing to do? No. There are many families that camp at FW because it's the only way they can afford to bring their kids to WDW. There are also many people who camp at FW because of their love for camping! So, when sites are booked up by people not even using the sites, it deprives others of a nice vacation.

I'm locking this thread now, because we've heard all the arguments before and if you want to read them, you can do a search. :)
