Renter selling the rented points?

On the rent board there was a poster that sold his rented reservation for $7 a point. How does a renter sell? Doesn't the member need to make any name changes etc? He didn't say his BCV reservation was rented but it was easy to determine by reading his three other posts. How can this be? Is he just finding someone to recover some of his costs? Then he'll have the member change the name? :confused3

Most likely the case. They have had a change of plans and need to rent their reservation to make up some of the $$$. I have had to do similar, change reservations for someone from a studio to a 2 BR and need to purchase points for transfer to complete the reservation!

It is a wonderful thing about DVC to be so flexible!

That must be it. You appear to be right that the original ressie was rented, and apparently they had to change plans inside 31 days, which put the points in holding and also involves an end of use year issue. That's really a mess for the owner they rented from -- really not a whole lot the owner CAN do to help them -- so I guess they tried to find someone to just take the ressie. If they found somebody to take the exact ressie, the owner would just change the names. That makes for a spectacular vacation savings for some lucky person.

It's too bad for the renter, but that is the real risk for the renter -- not that the owner will prove unscrupulous (which is the common concern) -- but that the renter's own problems will put the owner in a position where they can't help. At least it wasn't a total loss.
