rented the Poseiden Adventure last night

I loved that movie when I was a kid! Hadn't thought about it in years(well, maybe when we went on the Wonder cruise!) But I saw part of a show the other night that showed the cult following this movie has, one guy has made the inside of his house a replica of the ship. Anyway, I was thinking, dd9 would like it, so we rented it, dvd widescreen. DH rolled his eyes,cause hes seen it so many times, but of course wound up watching the whole thing. Much more enjoyable then seeing it chopped up on tbs with hundreds of commercials. DD loved it! I've gotta think of some more old movies shes never seen, but might enjoy. FYI, the movie came out in 72.

A classic disaster movie from back then, wow, 32 years ago!!!! Those disaster movies sure were in vogue then, usually pretty interesting. I gusee that age old human draw, 'I sure am glad it is not me'. Glad you guys enjoyed it.

I got this for Christmas! I plan on showing it before our cruise, LOL. What a camp classic!
I looked for Towering Inferno but Best Buy said it wasn't available. That would be another good one--with OJ as a security guard!!

I love The Poseiden Adventure too. I have ever since I was 11 or 12. Not exactly sure why, though.

Great old movie. Part of my honeymoon (pre DCL) was on a cruise and we had rough seas one night so the boat was moving a lot, so much so that our king sized bed (two twins pushed together - Happy honeymoon) seperated and my wife fell through to the floor. I joked about the Poseiden adventure. Wife didnt' think it was funny.. LOL!

It has been on AMC a lot lately. I saw it one night when I wasn't sleeping so good, I was stoked about it b/c I hadn't seen it in a long long time... then it was on the next night and the next night and by the fourth time I was tired of it but yeah like a drone I watched it again lol

It took me over a decade to convince my DW Sue to go on a cruise. She kept reminding me that "the fat lady dies in The Poseidon Adventure". She was convinced that a giant wave was going to wash over the Disney Magic and that we'd be forced to climb out of the hull of the ship. Thank goodness we cruised BEFORE Titanic came out or I might have had another decade of convincing to do.

I've never seen it. I love older movies. Water movies tend to make me feel seasick sometimes though.

It was Carol Lynnly - although I don't think that's spelled right!

I LOVED that movie - I was 11 and I thought the girl that ended up being Nancy Drew (Pam something??) was SOOO cool. I remember her dress - it had a skirt that came off and she was wearing matching hot pants underneath. I wanted a dress like that for the longest time! I had a huge crush on Gene Hackman! (just like the girl in the movie I guess!)

I guess I'm weird - it always made me WANT to go on a cruise!

I bought that for DH for Xmas. It was $5.99 on the value bin at Target.

He watches it all the time... and its a great movie.

He remembers seeing it at the movies, but I was just a wee one when this movie came out.

I don't think that Carol Lynley actually sang in the movie. The popular song "The Morning After" was actually performed by Maureen McGovern from Youngstown (Ohio).

Maureen McGovern sang the song in the movie. One of my favorite songs during the 70's.

Okay - those of you who've seen it recently - did she sing it or not??? I could have sworn she sang it. I know she didn't sing the pop version that was on the radio - but I thought she did sing in the movie. Maybe a different song? I just remember thinking she wasn't really a very good singer!

no thats who sang the song on the 45, but the movie had Carol Lynnly

Pop Daddy - She did have the brother That kid was in a lot of movies around then. I also remember him from "Yours, Mine and Ours" He played Phillip North Beardsley! I watch that movie every time it's on tv!

And her name is Pamela Sue Anderson!! Yeah - that was going to drive me nuts!

she was lip- syncing, but thats a good question, cause now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it sounded the same as the record. Also, I guess I must be getting really old, cause as I was watching it last night, I was noticing how buff Ernest Borgnine was!
