Rented DVC points BWV/reservation confirmation

Hi,

I'm renting points for the first time and went through a broker (for added security) at BWV studio in September, preferred view as no standard view studios were available.

When I went to put in the reservation number into the WDW website in preparation for booking dining ressies in a few days, the reservation came up just fine however instead of preferred view studio, the confirmation states standard view studio.

I contacted the broker to find out why the discrepancy and was told it is a common error with Disney's online system and that all rooms will show as standard view, regardless of view booked.

Can anyone with more experience please confirm that to be true? He assured me that I have a preferred view booked despite what the online confirmation states.

Thanks!

I cannot answer your question as to glitches on the website - they are certainly frequent, to say the least.

The person you rented from should be able to provide you with the actual confirmation paperwork - either a hard copy letter from DVC if they have that or at least print out the e-mail confirmation that DVC sends now (they send a confirmation with a link last I knew - so they would have to click on the link and print you the screen or something similar).

If paper confirmations are still being sent (I'm not sure), they do take a few weeks to arrive from DVC once the reservation is made.

If the person is saying everything says that - including the confirmation they would get from DVC, I don't know. I would be concerned if everything said standard view since that is fewer points than the preferred/garden view. Renting at $10 pp - that could equal a few hundred dollars.

That is my concern...we paid $12.50 pp, and a standard would be quite a bit less than a preferred view. Since I went through a broker, I cannot contact the member directly but it sounds like, based on what you're saying, I should be able to ask the broker to contact the member and provide me with the actual confirmation paperwork or e-mail confirmation? I cannot imagine that all the confirmations would say standard view, if indeed it is a preferred view. I thought I was just being a little overly nervous, but it sounds like I need to press the broker a little more for further information :confused3

Hi!
I have a similar situation- have the emailed confirmation, was able to use the number on mydisneyreservation.com. I could see my ressie and was even able to add our anniversary celebration.

The owner was able to add our flight info for ME, but now when I go on the site again it says "Sorry, this reservation has been canceled. Please contact your original booking agent."

So, I understand your dismay if it is anything like mine! Thankfully I paid by paypal/credit card and have until November.

It is however driving my desire to purchase my own points so I can be in control.

This is a known glitch. They all say standard view online when going through Disney's site. If you go through the DVC site (which you have to be a member), it will have the correct view. I suspect this is because CRO books all BWV rooms as standard.

That's good news for the OP, Debbie. Do you know if the OP got the actual confirmation from DVC (e-mail version or paper) - it will say the right thing?

Thank-you Debbie and vicki_c! :flower3:

It makes me feel better that it is a known glitch on Disney's site and I will probably ask the broker to try to get me the actual confirmation from DVC just to put my mind at ease :goodvibes

Ok, not trying to be rude, and not sure which broker you used, but if you used them for what you said was added security and yet you still do not believe what they told you, why would you believe any of us. :confused3

My point being, either you trust them or you don't.

There is definitely a glitch on the Disney website...

I just checked my boardwalk villa - boardwalk view reservation using the disney website - my room reservation says "standard view" -

then I checked using the dvcmember site and the view is "Boardwalk view".

I hope you enjoy your stay.

We're looking forward to our first stay at BWV and I'm sure if we rent points again the next time around we'll be more comfortable/familiar with the entire process!
