I told a friend that I would look into how it works to rent a vehicle here in ON, drive it down to WDW and back...if anyone has done this please let me know...I am able to get prices from various rental places, but none are unlimited km, nor is there an option saying the vehicle would be going into the US. :confused3

Try Hertz. We rented a van a few years ago in Canada and drove to Flordia and Back, unlimited mileage. We used the CAA discount, I believe it included the second driver free.

I believe that Alamo is one of the last few offering unlimited kms. We used to be able to rent a van for our 16-7 day trips for around $800, but last year it was a real struggle to keep it around $1000 - Google "car rental discount codes" and keep plugging in the various codes and membership ID numbers.

I've not looked recently, but hopefully the rental market has changed for the better.

I looked into that about 2 years ago. Discount and Thrifty will let you drive the vehicle in the US providing an additionnal charge (about 10$ more a day). No unlimited KM.

Alamo, Dollar and National/Enterprise have unlimited KM and will let you drive in the States at no additionnal cost.

Beside Mousesavers, I usually find great coupon discounts on the following websites (note that for some of them you can even combine 2 coupon discount (e.g. Alamo and National))

If you are going in Sep/Oct it may work out less and much more relaxing to just fly down nonstop from Buffalo with Southwest or jet Blue. It works out to $139.00 return with taxes. You can find a good deal on a vehicle rental in florida for the week.

I agree with the PP flying from Buffalo is a great option. Driving usually is only better is you have more than 5 people but that doesn't account for the added cost of renting a car.

Look at renting in the USA. It will cost far less to rent from, for example, Buffalo airport than from Canada.

We used Avis back and forth in 2006 and 2007. It was 4200 kms which was just enough to get us there and back. You can check the Avis website and get prices without booking. The 2nd driver was free which was difficult to find with other companies. Do search for code online. Also, make sure you get the insurance via your car insurance policy, comes up much cheaper.

Check out Buffalo flights, it might come out cheaper depending how many people you want to bring. I do admit it was nice to have the van though, we brought a lot of things (Canadian beer, vodka coolers ...) you could not if you fly. Sometimes it seems when you fly it is "hurry up and wait". Driving you set your own pace.

Have fun!

Are you close enough to drive to the border in your own vehicle?? DH and I drive over to Buffalo, park our own car and then pick up a rental if we want to save kms on our own vehicle. They always have unlimited km (not sure about vans though, but definitely suvs).
