It just dawned on me that with my new PAP I have parking included, so we do not NEED to stay within walking distance. Thou I do not see this being a benefit to stay at another hotel somewhere. I did think that I could stay at a rental home near by. It will be 4 adults 2 kids and 2 infants. Has anybody done this?? Would you recommend where you stayed? I have looked at VRBO and Homeaway, but really can not narrow down places. I would be looking for some place not too far and not too $$$.
The otherside (since we usually walk) how is parking at Mickey and Friends in the morning?

Interesting idea. I never really thought about using a rental house. I'm interested in hearing others experiences...

We did it 2 years ago (and were within walking distance) but we also had 20 of us going so it was SOOOO much cheaper to rent a house ($350/night!). The house we used would be way too big for your purposes. But if anyone else is interested:

This is where we stayed. They were very nice, it was a great set up for us.

How funny! We stayed there, too!! 10 adults & 4 kids. It was a lot easier (and cheaper) than a hotel! It's just down the street from Paradise Pier & Grand Californian. Nice easy walk!

Were is the house??? How far was the walk and how did you do it? I was wondering were you could walk onto the Disneyland resort beside the roads.

It's past BW Stoval's on S. West Street (S. West turns into Disneyland Drive at Katella by PPH), across from the loading area for the convention. If you click on Google Maps, it shows the "Truck Entrance" for the convention center. Right across the street.

My sister and her friend just stayed at a rental called Storybook Villa for about 2 weeks and loved it.

When we go with her in February, we will be staying there also. It's cheaper than having to get 2 hotel rooms.

A huge plus is that we won't have to worry about the kids being so noisy, like you do in a hotel. Also, having the stove and laundry in the unit is nice too. The walk to the tram wasn't much further than a lot of the close hotels either apparently.

It was something we had never thought of before, and now we wonder why lol.

If I ever convince my parents, my in-laws, or friends to vacation with us at DLR, then this is the house I'd rent! Check out the photos.

Here's one of the playroom:

My mom and I want to stay at that Disney house someday. We talk about it every year, but need more people to go with us.

We have stayed in a condo behind the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. I think it was $150 more than had we booked across the street from Dland and we had so much space and saved a lot on food. It was a 2 bedroom, so it wouldn't work for your family, but we had a great experience. The walk to the tram was really easy.

Did you walk or drive to the park?

I read an article about it in the OC Register a few weeks ago (knew about it before hand due to the DISBoards).

I hadn't realized it (the house) is owned by Patrick Labyorteaux (from Little House on the Prairie & JAG). Wow!
