Rental Home Owner Not Returning Emails?

Hi all,

Maybe I'm being a little too worried about this, but I can't help but being concerned about this,.

I sent an email to the owner of the home we're supposed to be renting because I had forgotten the exact amount I still owed her and the due date is coming up soon. I still haven't heard anything back from her, and it's going on four days now. I'm starting to get a little worried, because I really don't want to just send her a random amount that might not be right. And especially if she's incommunicado. Grand total will be almost 1000 dollars, which is no small chunk of change.

Any advice on what I should do? Maybe give it a few more days to get a reply from her? Resend the email in the chance that she didn't receive it. When I initially sent my deposit, I got no confirmation email from her that she received it. So I sent her a note, asking politely if she had, and I got an email back with a forwarded emails she had apparently sent me a few weeks prior, saying she had received it. So it might just be a technical glitch. But as a first time home renter, I have to admit, the whole thing is making me feel quite nervous.

did you get a phone number? Did you talk to them? I am paranoid like that too.

I haven't talked to them, no. I had a cell phone number in the original email that we had corresponded with back when I booked the rental, but I've managed to lose the saved email. That was one reason I was writing to her, because I couldn't find the original one that had the residual price left to pay. The whole thing is making me feel more and more nervous about renting instead of going the traditional hotel route.

It may be that your e mails are going into a spam folder on her computer so she isn't getting them.If you have lost the phone number what I suggest is you do a search for the home -many owners give their homes a name that will come up in a search -and then if there is a phone number ring it.If not and it is a listing site that does not have the owners home details send a request via the site and ask your questions that way.

May be the owner is on vacation and is not readily available?

When you do get in touch make a hard copy of everything for you records. That will give you a place to go back to if anything happens to the email.

Well I would say she's not ignoring you intentionally if there's more money to be collected prior to your arrival. Try searching online for the phone number, send the email from another address, or just wait until she contacts you to collect her money.

Thanks for all your suggestions gang. I tried contacting her using my gmail email account instead of my AOL one, so I'll give that a few days. I am getting a little bit worried, since our trip is fast approaching, and this lack of communication is leaving me with a nagging feeling of doubt. I don't want to wait TOO long because there are some hotel deals I could hop on if I would need to.

Had the same problem when we stayed at Windsor Hills. Tried everything to get in touch with her (owner)for our final payment amount and after a week found out that she was at her home in WH and was having computer trouble.
Maybe it's the same person. :rotfl:

Did you pay a deposit? If so how did you pay it? Do you have some type of rental agreement? If so, there must (or should) be contact info on it.

I actually paid by personal check. No agreement or anything like that. I'm digging around trying to find the email I had with her contact info right now.

Have you checked the PA site to get her home details and then look up a phone number for her?
