I am having problems finding a reasonable rate for a rental car from 11/4 to 11/9 out of LGB. I typically use priceline and I can't get a good rate accepted. I also checked hotwire and the rates seem really high (around 30 for economy). I've never had this happen before.

Any suggestions?

Are rental cars in huge demand for that week?

I tried for oct 10-15 and having about the same luck as you. I finally gave up and taking super shuttle.

I had the same trouble this summer....my advice is keep trying Priceline. If you wait until about 2 weeks before your trip the price should drop.

I don't know why rental car companies rates are so high right now...but for us who like to plan way ahead it is really frustrating! lol.

Good luck.

We had the same problem for our trip the week of Oct 18th from LGB. We were looking for a minvan since we will be shuttling around 2 families. At one place I looked economies were as much as the minivan. I wasn't sure if this was an area wide issue or just at Long Beach. The best rate we were able to get was AAA.

Now that we are about a week out might check rates again but it doesn't sound to good. Good luck.

Check on rentalcodes.com for rental codes at the various agencies and then try using them on the websites. I usually have good luck with that.

O.k. I'll give the rental codes a shot. Otherwise I'm going to keep trying Priceline up until a few days before we leave. I tend to plan ahead and this is killing me:lmao:

It makes it worse that DH asks every day if I've booked it yet!:headache:

I don't know what places you have tried, but we have used Rent4less on a couple of different trips. We have found their prices to be reasonable, the service great. They come a pick you up from the airport, but the drive is a five to ten minute drive. Don't get worried that they are taking you somewhere scary. They have always treated us great. I post this because, when I was looking to book a vehicle, I had trouble finding anyone who had heard of the company. Just wanted to give you a little piece of mind, if you were interested. We also used the rental codes website to get a discount. Good luck!!:thumbsup2
