We have a Baby Jogger City Mini Double & I was wondering if anyone has rented a small car and been able to fit a double stroller in the trunk. On the Alamo website it says "Nissan Versa or similar." We've been able to fit it in our cars which are pretty small but I don't want to take a chance. We don't need to worry about fitting luggage as we are picking the car up at the Car Care Center after we arrive, so it will just be the stroller we need to fit in the trunk.

TIA :)

It will be tight, if it fits at all. Go to the Nissan site and check the specs. for the trunk for the Versa.

Better yet, stop by a dealer and look for yourself . . . the trunk opening is just (if not more) important as the volume. Just realize that you might get "or similar" and be in a totally different car.

As one that has rented from Alamo at MCO several times, don't put much weight into "Nissan Versa", which is their example of a Compact. When I went last month and rented the compact from Alamo, there were many different cars to pick from. Their may have been a Versa or two, but it was no more than 10% of the compacts they had. I happened to get a Ford Focus this time, which I thought had a decent size trunk. In the past couple of years I've rented compacts from Alamo, I've had the Focus, a couple Chevy Cobalts (now Cruze) and a Toyota Yaris. The Yaris was the only one of the bunch I disliked, mainly because they put the instrument cluster in the middle of the dashboard instead of on the drivers side. The trunks in all of these were decent...

Edit: Oops, just looked back and you're renting from CCC, not MCO. Same comment, they'll have more than Nissan Versas (and the Versa might be OK as well)

I have no personal experience with a Nissan Versa or the Baby Jogger City Mini Double. I do know that subcompact hatchbacks like the Versa tend to have a lot of cargo room if you fold down the back seat, but very little room if you don't.

Even if you determine that the Nissan Versa has enough room, there's a potential problem in reserving an economy car such as a "Nissan Versa or similar" from any car rental agency. The agency may not have a Versa available and may give you a car that's similar or may upgrade you (with no upgrade charge) to a larger car. The other subcompact may have different cargo dimensions. An upgraded car may be a compact sedan with a "real" trunk (but a rather small trunk).

What do you drive at home, and how much room is there for Baby Jogger City Mini Double? If it's tight, perhaps you should consider the same class of car.

I'm not positive, but I believe the Versa that is being referred to is the sedan version and not the hatch version.

That being said, the trunk on any compact car is going to be tight.

The Focus is a mid size car as is the Cobalt and the Cruze.

On Alamo's site, they state the versa is a hatchback and holds 2 pieces of luggage.

Not in Orlando anyway. When I've gone on my own, I always rent Compact and the cars in the compact section at MCO for Alamo have included the Focus and Cobalt. I know sometimes they move different class cars down a grade or two, but in the case of Cobalt and Focus there were more than one of each in the compact section.
