Hello All! We are now officially at 81 days til our first DVC trip and had a curiosoty question. We will be going to Tampa before going to WDW and we will be renting a car there, but wanted to drop the car in WDW when we arrive for our DVC trip. Has anyone ever done this before and if so, are you able to drop it right at the resort? We're staying at SSR and wanted to see if this was possible. We were going to rent through Enterprise, but aren't tied to them. Thoughts?

National and Alamo have on-property locations (one at the Dolphin and one at their own area near a Hess station), but I don't think Enterprise does. You'll need to find out the closest rental location, and make your booking so that you're picking it up in Tampa and turning it in at the specific location in Orlando.

Enterprise usually does not work well for one ways. Avis has a rental office in the Hilton at WDW @ DTD. I have done one ways thru Avis @ DTD Hilton several times. It is easy to just walk over to DTD and then either catch a bus/boat or walk back to SSR. I think Hertz has an officer at Shades of Green and Dollar might have an office at a DTD hotel. AS PP said, Alamo and National also have WDw locations.

Thanks you everyone! This information has been perfect! I only wanted to use Enterprise, because of my corporate discount, but that wouldn't work for us since there is no way to return it on property. I think we will want to return at the Dolphin and then go to parks from there. It looks like Alamo would be the cheapest and I beleive we as DVC members even get a discount. Thanks again to everyone for the information.

We have used Alamo twice; last summer we returned a car rented from Tampa to the WDW-CCC and in March we picked up and returned at the Dolphin. The hotel parking valets at the Dolphin take care of the return and provide a slip documenting the return. At the CCC, it is similar to returning at an airport.

The Alamo desk hours at the Dolphin are 8-4, so if you need to interact directly with an Alamo rep, the hours are more limited at this location. The CCC is open from 6AM - 8PM Mon-Fri and 6-6 on WE (according to Alamo's website).

The CCC has a shuttle that can take you back to your resort or to one of the parks. When I returned a car to the CCC last summer, I actually beat my family to AK, despite having to return the car. They had to take a Disney resort bus from OKW.

Run the costs online. When we just rented a car from National, it was half price of Alamo's! (They had the same check in/out and cars!) When I went to National's site, I was able to get the free one grade upgrade also!

Your post was not up before I posted above. If you are a member at Costco, you can get really good rates on Alamo. You can also join Alamo Insiders for free and sometimes get better rates. Plus, Alamo Insider members can have a second driver for no added cost.

Enterprise does have a desk at the Royal Plaza hotel in Lake Buena Vista, near WDW. I bet they provide a shuttle, as well. Here is the address from their website: 1905 HOTEL PLAZA BLVD, LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL 32830-8438, Tel.: (407) 397-0800.
