Why are the rates so high in March? I was thinking of taking a quick trip in March since I found great price on a flight with Allegiant Air and the pin code for 35% off values. The price of the rental is practically more than the flight is going to cose. What the heck is going on? I don't remember rates being this high when I flew into Sanford before. Anyone know of a legit discount?

I know rates are Crazy high in August as well....They used to be cheap????? Anyone know why rates are so high?

What are your specific dates and what size of vehicle?

I'm hoping to go / arrive the evening of March 18 and leave on March 23. We are flying into Sanford. (maybe that is why i'm getting such high rates?) I'm not worried about the size since there are only 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child) and really it is just a way to get to/from the airport.

I booked our car rental for March a few months ago and got a pretty good rate. Last week I checked them out again and they went down! Secured that rate and thank goodness because I see they are back up this week. :confused3

The rates you are getting could also be high because of flying into Sandford. Check out mousesavers.com and get discount codes. I would reserve you best price now then just keep on checking. Prices for car rentals fluctuate like airfares. I have also found that a week or so before you need the car, rates may go down. Alamo and National always have last minute specials.

Good Luck, Beth

Looks like Budget is your best bet for a compact the total is $172.83 upon checkout after coupon MUWZ023 for $25.00 is applied. Use BCD Number x797726.

Try contract Id 5007160 and coupon code ND1881JDK for $40 off weekly at National. The rate comes to about $151 including taxes and fees for a compact.

The contract ID is from Continental airlines, you need to join their frequent flyer club (free). The coupon is from http://www.carrentalsavers.com.

Keep checking rates until your trip and check last minute specials one week prior to travel.

I just posted this on another thread, but I just got a great rate on a full-size car with Budget, with no code. Go to Budget and look at the specials. They have specials at airport locations, but I'm not sure if Sanford would be included. It's worth a try. I'm also going at the same time as you are (March 17-22). Good luck!

I'm hoping the rates will go down again. When we rented about 2 years ago from Sanford the rates were very comparable to MCO rates, but that may have changed.

Thanks, Webworm! I think I might try this. $172 is more than we paid last time, but it still beats the close to $250 that I found the cheapest before.

Thanks, mmmgood! I'm not sure Sanford has National, but I'll check it out. I could be wrong.

I'm starting to worry the parks are going to be crowded. I'll have to check out Budget. It sounds like that is going to be the cheapest.

Does anyone know if Budget will give you the lower price (if that were to happen) without having to cancel and then rebook? I know Dollar would allow this before.

Why are the rates so high? Spring break! Easter is early this year. I finally found a car for $190 and felt like I hit the jackpot after seeing rates of $500. I'm going to keep watching though. The rates change often.

Dollar has "city deals"......... Monday I booked a midsize for April 13-18 for 222.00 total.

Went on line today and I got the same car, same time, for Grand Total 184.76

Type in your dates and a yellow banner will be on next page.

So far, best price I have been able to book.....

I booked using the Budget code and it was right $200 after taxes for a compact. Not as cheap as before, but not terrible.

Disneylover, that is what I did the last time and had great rate. This time I was disappointed with Dollar. I'll keep checking since rates do change all the time and I do get email specials from Dollar all the time.

I was shocked at the huge drop......I kept double checking my dates and times that I didn't enter something incorrectly. I am going to keep checking up until the day we go. Every dollar saved I can spend somewhere else :goodvibes
