Unless I'm doing something wrong! I have a great rate for a minivan ($550 after taxes) at MCO 2 weeks in December, but checked again tonight just to see if things might have improved. Wow, they've doubled (over $1100)! I'm so glad I books a few months ago. Maybe I'm not entering something right. I know I certainly didn't go through all the steps of trying each different code combination, etc., at all the companies. I just did a general search engine looksee. What a shock! I think I'll just forget about checking again until the fall, or maybe it's time for me to realize I've got a great rate and just stop altogether. Time is money. Boy am I grateful for the rate I booked.

BTW - anyone ever had a ressie disappear if booked TOO FAR in advance? In other words, do I need to be worried that my super deal will disappear, even if I have an e-mail confirmation (also printed out, of course)?

TIA

I doubt you are doing anything wrong...they have gone up drastically! I booked a SUV in April for an October rental with a price of $360 for 11 days and I see now the rates are around $700! I sent an email to Alamo to ask them if they could explain to me why they are going up...they were supposed to reply to my email in 24-hrs but I haven't heard anything...

I've never had a ressie disappear on me, but I do check mine every week to be sure it is still there and the price is still a match. I am soooo super careful not to accidently hit 'cancel'! Keep your hard copy though...you never know!

Good luck finding a better price. I've seen rates drop a month before the dates...for example a full-size vehicle through Alamo runs $577.98 for my dates of travel (10/16-10/26) but is only $241.57 for 6/25-7/5...

Keeping my fingers crossed we see a drop soon!

the prices have been all over the last couple of days. I have seen rates from 300-500 drop to an little over 100 in one day. Just keep trying at different times of the day.

I just went and checked rates for our dates and they have gone up 50+ !! , same with the air fare, it had gone up 140.00 ! :teacher:

I posted about this last night. I could not believe it. I was shocked and amazed! Glad I booked. If you find an acceptable rate, BOOK IT! If something better comes along you can rebook, but at least you'll have something.

This is why we have decided to book Magical Express for our December trip. When I checked rates the last couple of weeks I kept getting between $300-$350 for a full size. We decided to save that money and take Magical Express instead. Plus I don't have to spend so much time checking car rental rates either! :teeth:

I also have a December rental ($478 total for 3 weeks - midsize). Since booking the rate has almost doubled. I am hoping it will go down a bit this fall, but since rates are so high right now, I don't know.

When I first started looking for our December visit, a full-size car for a week at Thrifty was $150 plus tax. That same car is now $450 a week plus tax. In about a two month time frame the cost has gone up $300 a week. I ended up booking with National where I have a full-size for 12 days at $299 with tax

Yes indeed prices have gone up. I think the days of $100 weekly rentals are gone for a while. One of my family members works for Enterprise and he has said numerious times that they are slow compared to past years. People are just not traveling, so someone has to pay for it!!
