Hi Kyle. We always use
Avis and stay at the Radisson at the Port. The hotel is only a mile or so from the ship and also has the Avis location right on site. They also provide a complimentary shuttle service to the ship.
We usually book Avis online. When you are making the reservation the pick-up code is MCO for Orlando Airport and the drop off code for the Avis Radisson location is P3F.
You would use these same location codes for the one way return rental as well. But the pick up would be P3F and the drop off would be MCO.
The Radisson is a very nice property with a great tropical pool. You can usually get a standard room for about $79 or a suite for about $99-119 per night.
Here are some Avis codes that you can use online to save some money. We have found that D002807 gets us the best price. Other codes are K163369, B021615, K492101. These were taken off the
www.mousesavers.com site. You would enter these codes in the AWD discount box on the online ressie form.
We usually rent a minivan or SUV for our family of 5 and only pay about $57 including tax each way with those codes. A smaller car would obviously be even cheaper.
On the morning of your cruise I would suggest that you drive your party with all the luggage to the port. Drop them all off. A porter will handle all the luggage and your party can start checking in at the terminal and getting on line. You can then return the car to the Radisson Avis location and hop the shuttle to the port. It is very easy this way. Just make sure you have all your documentation and I.D. with you or they won't let you in the terminal when you take the shuttle back to the port.
When you get off the ship you would walk out into the parking lot where the big white tent is and that is where the Avis/Radisson shuttle will bring you back to the hotel/office to pick up your car. We usually just send one person on the shuttle and they come back to pick us up in the lot with our luggage. It is easier than trying to fit all the people and luggage in the shuttle van.
Hope this helps.
