rental car ? for beach

After our cruise we will be returning to the cocoa beach area and staying for 1 night before our flight out of MCO. As I understand it, we will need to be off the cruise ship by 9 am. We were planing to go to budget and rent a car for our return trip to the airport. We don't need to arrive at the airport until 1:00 the next day, so we would have the rental for more than 24 hours. Will they charge us for more than one day rental rate? How can we avoid the extra day. I thought we could take a taxi to the hotel from the beach. Then later how do I rent a car from the hotel? We were thinking of staying at the doubletree or hilton in cocoa beach. Does anyone know if they have an onsite rental car? If not how far and does anyone know who is the closest?

If you are staying at a Cocoa Beach hotel, many of them offer complimentary port shuttles. So I would contact your hotel and see if you can get from the port to the hotel without a rental car. Then you would only need a rental car on the day you are driving to MCO.
