Rental Car Fee Sticker Shock

So proud - grabbed a fantasic rate from Alamo for a minivan for a full week for $177 - which i never would have found without the DIS! THANKS!

By the time I was ready to make the final reservation, the total jumped by $55. for all those fees. Tire fees, battery fees, airport fees, taxes...

It just blew me away.

I know it seems high but you actually found a great rate. For months I couldnt find anything less than 500 for a minivan for one week! I was finally able to grab one at 199 per week which is the cheapest rate I have seen advertised. Alamo doesnt have one available for me at any price. I hope you reserved it because that rate wont last long - even with the high tax/fee add ons.

Actually fees in Orlando are slightly less than other Florida locations I've checked into. Pensaola, for instance is higher.

And fees for renting in MN are about $20. more!

Those extra fees are nasty!

I did reserve it and then danced around a little because the rate was soooo good! I'll pay fees no matter where we rent, and with our schedule and group, a mini-van was the best choice.

I got my great rate thru the Costco Summer/Fall Travel mag and Alamo. Carlnne - it was the extra $15. off coupon code that got me down to the $177. Maybe this would be an option for you, too?
