Rent!

I was telling my boyfriend about last night and at one point I asked him if he was familiar with Rent.

If you want to know the 'real' story of "Rent", get a copy of the Puccini opera "La Boheme".

I was truly disappointed in it. I LOVE musicals. But this one I truly did not like at all. I think it's because of the fact that it's fairly graphic.
Not something I like to see in a musical. But that's me.

Our local community theater is doing a "high school" version of Rent this summer. Many of DD and DS's friends are in it, and it will be interesting to see how they make it appropriate for a younger audience.

I drove to Dallas to see it last month. I just sat in the audience blown away by the fact that Adam and Anthony were RIGHT THERE on stage in front of me. (Got teary-eyed about it more than once too.) I've loved Broadway since I was old enough to sit through the Tony's but things have never worked out for me to see anything in NYC. If they never do, I have to say that last month will probably be the most amazing show I've ever seen. (I was WAY too chicken to try and get an autograph, but I love seeing pics and hearing the stories of those that do.)

Seeing it in Boston on July 26th..we can't wait. I've seen it on Broadway and on tour in Boston, as well as have the movie and the DVC of that last Broadway performance. Not as crazed at TLiinden is but love it all the same.

Actually, as I was explaining it to him I was telling him all about the characters and their La Boheme counterparts and how the play is a modern reworking of it.

I know the school version omits "Contact" and I think a couple of the filler songs and takes out some of the more graphic elements of the play. I would imagine that La Vie Boheme has been seriously reworded in some parts, but that is just a guess.

Lucky ducky!

Anthony Rapp is one of my *favorite* Broadway actors of all time (adore him in Rent and the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown). He fits the "dork" role perfectly!

They're coming to Boston close to my birthday...

...sadly, I chose going to a Jonas Brothers concert over Rent.

But I've seen Rent! Just...not with Adam and Anthony
