Rent/Need Points

First of all, forgive me. I am knew to this just this afternoon . I have some questions about renting/buying points. First....will the point requirement for 2003 increase from what I see for 2002? I am looking for the 2BDRM BWV for May 3-10/2003. The 2002 points needed for this resort are 386. Second...not being an owner, is it possible to get all the points I need from 1 person on this board? Or could I buy the total point amount needed from a number of different people? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Haven't been to WDW since APR2000 and the kids (and me, lol) are dying to go back.

First, the points should not increase from one year to the next. Occasional adjustments are made by Disney, but they must be for a net sum of zero. What you have calculated for May 2003 should be just fine.

Second, you can rent all the points from one person, and should do so. Otherwise you will have seperate reservations (must "check-out" from one by 11:00am and not "check-in" until 3:00pm with no guarentee of having the same room)

Third, reservations can not be made until 11 months out (for a BWV owner) and 7 months out (for all other DVC owners). Look for someone who wants to rent thier points and is a BWV owner. Then plan in June to co-ordinate the reservation.

Would you suggest staying elsewhere onsite for the 1st night (Sat.) and using the points to move over to BWV Sun.-Thurs. and again stay elsewhere for the final night (Fri.)? I sort of gathered that the points double for Friday and Saturday. If so, how do you handle the transportation between resorts? Simply call a taxi or does WDW have a special transfer for guests moving between resorts? Everytime we have gone down there we have stayed in 1 resort the entire time.

Also, is it possible to rent/buy points for other resorts such as Port Orleans French Quarter? Our last trip was at Port Orleans and we loved it! We got tired of the bus stops to Dixie Landings though. It seemed to add 15-20 minutes to the park transfers having to stop at 4-5 places in Dixie Landiings. Now that they are sister properties, does anyone know if the bus still starts at Port Orleans FQ and continues to pick up at Port Orleans RF? I think I have the abbreviations right, lol.

In regards to Port Orleans, you'd probably do better by going through central reservations... It's 18 points per night, or 180.00. Regarding your BWV stay, I'd do the first night somewhere & then the remaining 6 @ BW... that way you do save a little & you don't have to move twice... You should also see if there are any better discounts through central reservations, you never know..

I have enough points available at Boardwalk to do your entire trip whether you stay for 5 nights or the entire 7. You should be prepared to have a DVC owner make your reservations right at the 11th month priority window, especially if you are opting for the standard view rooms. If you truly have to save money on this trip, I wouldn't move twice. Once is bad enough.
By the time you pack and depart at check out time and then wait until check in time at the other resort 5 hours later, you have wasted an entire day. If you do that twice you are really wasting alot of time and money. You might as well spend the extra $ and stay for the full 7 days at the resort of your choice or just come down for 5 nights. docdds@aol.com

Would you be interested in selling these points (I believe it is 386 total points) to me for the entire stay? The dates we need are May 3-10/2003 in the 2BDRM Boardwalk Villa.

I do have a few more questions though. First and most important, what kind of guarantee do I have that you will not back out or cancel the reservation? How much do you plan to sell the points for? If I need to cancel the trip due to emergency, would I be at a total loss or would I have some sort of refund? Would I be able to sell the points I purchased from you to another?
