Rent a car? split stay

We just booked at CR 9/17-9/19 and signed up for DME to get there. On 9/19 we will move to Wyndham Bonnet Creek and stay with a friend for a week. I was planning to rent a minivan for the week at the Wyndham, but now I'm trying to figure out the logistics of picking up a minivan from one of the many rental places around WDW. It almost seems easier to rent from MCO when we fly in, but we won't use a vehicle for a couple of days and it would cost more for the extra days. Is it that hard to pick up a vehicle once on property? Is there anything else I should be considering in organizing all this? Am I overthinking all this?
So far Dollar appears to have the best rates, picking up from the location near DTD.

If you use Alamo/National, you Ca get a car at the Car Care Center....just down the road from the CR. just call them the night before you need the car, and they will send a ride to get you to the office. If those rates aren't low enough, then check the DTD hotels. The rental companies located in those hotels sometimes provide a ride to get you and bring you back to get your rental!

Thank you! That's kinda what I was reading, but I was afraid it would get complicated day of check out. Do the hotels locations near DTD send a shuttle to Disney hotels or would we take a shuttle to DTD then walk to the location? I guess one of us could stay at CR with the kids and the other person pick us up with the minivan so we aren't parading around too much

I believe Dollar at the Wynham will come and get you. Just look the location up on the Dollar web page and call and ask them. Other wise the wife, kids and luggage will have to stay at the resort if you that the bus to DTD since luggage is not allowed on any Disney bus other than the DME.
