We are going for a quick trip in March, during spring break. Should we rent a car or use ME? How much time will we save driving to/from the airport if we have a car?

How early do we need to leave Disney to get to MCO? Our flight is at 4:30 pm. Thanks for your opinions.........

I have decided to pick up a car at the airport. The rate I have isn't terrible great but the fact I do not have to depend on ME was the deciding factor. The closer I get to our departure date the more it bothered me that I would have to take ME and then get transportation to my rental car. So I decided today infact to pay the extra forty dollars it will cost to get it at the airport for my own peace of mind. I am renting thru budget and I am a fastbreak member so it means that I go directly to the garage to pick up my car. The time I will save when all is said and done will be well worth the extra money. I plan to check daily to see if rates will go down and hopefully I will end up with a cheaper rate.

*not to mention the rules for renting a car from the airport and the downtown disney doubletree. From the airport I get unlimited miles, however, at the budget at the doubletree only 1050 miles are permitted per week.

1050 miles would not be sufficient for a week at Disney? WHY??? Were you planning to go home for lunch one day? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

IF you're only using the rental car as round-trip airport transportation and you're not going to use it during your vacation itself, then it's not worth it, in my opinion, especially if you're not a member of a special rental car "club" and won't have immediate "walk up" access to a car. I can't imagine waiting at baggage claim, waiting at the car rental counter, doing the transaction, and then getting to the car will take much less time than the DME process.

I've traveled all over the place, rented lots of cars, and believe me, I wish there was a DME-like service everywhere I travel.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: HAVE FUN ON SPRING BREAK. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Where are you staying? Would you be using only Disney transportation during your stay?

We are staying at SSR. Disney only transportation is fine. I'm more concerned about the time. Will we be able to stay longer on our checkout day if we rent a car?

You'll probably only get 30-45 minutes extra, I don't think it's worth it.

I'm renting a car from the airport and dropping it off the day before we leave at the Dolphin. We are really only doing this so we can 1. use it to make a grocery stop 2. drive over to Universal for a few days and 3. it was only $100 for 8 days for an SUV so we have it if we need it!
I'm PETRIFIED of missing planes, so we are planning on taking ME back to the airport, and I really don't mind leaving for the airport 3 hours before the flight leaves.

Have you thought of doing that? (Picking up at airport, drop off at the Dolphin or Car Care Center?)
