We never had an actual wedding ceremony and thought renewing our vows at 5 years would be great especially to have it done at my favorite place in the world. I just don't know what to do though. I don't want to spend a ton of money on this but of course want to enjoy ourselves. I only plan on there being 8 total people there, both sets of parents, us and our two kids. I had thought about the memories program but it is for 6 people and although our one child will only be a year and a half at the time (she isn't due into this world until the end of next month) so she doesn't count due to being under 2 but that still makes 7 people. Is there any options besides the escape that we could do that wouldn't be to expensive?

Hi and welocme

I am sure that my friends on these boards will not be at all surprised when I say that if you are looking for a more cost effective way of renewing your vows right there in WDW, you should consider looking into the Swan and Dolphin. The advantages are:-

- You can either book a package with everything included or book the bare minimum (ceremony site and planner) and research and organize the other elements yourself

- You are, therefore, afforded far more flexibility than you are when going with one of the smaller DFTW packages ('Memories' or 'Escape'). There are no minimum or maximum guest numbers imposed.

If you wish, you can book most of the extras that DFTW brides can book (eg Mickey and Minnie to attend, dessert parties etc). The exceptions are Cinderella's carriage (although a different horse and carriage can be booked) and the MK bridal shoot (although you can book a shoot with DPS at a different park and wear bridal attire). These two things are priviledges reserved only for DFTW brides.

- The current planner, Karen, who oversees the weddings at the S/D (who works for a company called 'JustMarry') is excellent, efficiant and extremely good at communication - often answering queries and concerns by e-mail the same day. Unfortuately, DFTW planners can be a bit hittty missy with communication at times!!

- You are right there in the heart of WDW and can have your photos taken all over. We had photos done at Bay Lake Tower, Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk and the Grand Floidian (beach and inside the resort). Later in the week we had a Trash the Dress session with our photographer at the Poly!! We had our reception dinner at 'Citrico's' (GF) and ended the day with fireworks at the Contemporary. We really made use of WDW and all it has to offer!!

- You may well end up with a bill for as little as half the amount that a similar event would have cost by going through DFTW. Obviously, this would depend on your choices, but it would almost definately be significantly less expensive!!

My DH and I had our VR at the Swan in May and it was perfect. We would 100% recommend the Swan, Karen and 'JustMarry'

Feel free to peek at my PJ/TR (the link is in my signature) and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If you feel more comfortable with PMing me, that fine.

Good luck and happy planning!! I am looking forward to hearing all your plans!!

+1!! I'm getting married at the Swan next December. I initially looked into having my wedding through Disney but I wound up finding more freedom and financial accommodation with the Swan/Dolphin. I would definitely recommend that you look into all of the Disney options as well as the Swan!!

We're similar to you in that we didn't have a wedding when we got married so we're doing a VR for our 5 yr. We're going with the swan too. The price is very reasonable and their wedding planner is wonderful to work with!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I am definatly going to look into the swan/dolphin resort now.

Hi and congrats on your decision to have your VR at Disneyworld! I have just booked ours, I purchased the "memories collection" which is $1991. However, I believe this is a time limited thing purely for the memories begin year.

I am by no way an expert, but I am really happy with what we will get for our money. Our ceremony is on Luau Beach at the Polynesian on 18th February 2012.
