Our APs are going to expire next month and we got our renewal e-mail with the $20 discount advertised for renewing along with a link to renew online. My question is, if we renew at DLR in person, do we still get the $20 discount? I was hoping to get the discount plus use our birthday fun passes and a gift card to help pay and I'm assuming the fun passes can't be used online. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks! :)

You'll get the discount, but you'll just get the generic card. You get to choose from a couple different cards if renewing away from the parks.

Thanks! Yeah, I saw that you get to choose what your card looks like (although honestly I thought there would be more choices and also more interesting ones). But it's more important to be able to use fun cards so we'll be doing that. Now I just have to convince DH that it's a good idea to renew. :rolleyes1

i have a question about the renewal email discount, does it expire?

Yes, it expires after a month because they send it a month before your AP expires and once the AP expires you don't get the discount because you wouldn't be renewing, you would be buying a new AP. Hope that made sense and wasn't too confusing.

Thanks for posting this! My AP runs out soon & I need to renew it for my December trip; it's good to know that they're offering a discount! What were the design choices?

I only looked at the design choices for a minute but one looks like the one we already have (or is very similar) which looks like it goes with their YOMD theme from last year. It's has the castle in the clouds and is sort of an overall light blue color. I personally find it very boring. The other one looks like it goes with the celebrate theme. It was white with Mickey (can't remember if Minnie was on it too) and had confetti in the background. It was more colorful and interesting but having a white background also made it seem kind of boring. I was hoping for a bunch of different characters or something. I would love to have one with the retro DL sign. But it's just as well that there wasn't anything too interesting since I think we'll renew at the park anyway.

I agree with everything you said.

The one little fun part of the YOMD color ones is that, if they match the replacement cards hubby and son got in May, they have Mickey balloons floating through the YOMD-color sky. :)

I'd love a retro sign card too.

Well balloons make it a little more interesting but with all the great art they have to work with you would think the passes would look awesome. Now that I think about it, our passes we had back in 2001/2002 weren't that interesting either. They were white with a drawing of the castle and grizzly peak. Sort of like the combined logo you see on some of the receipts at DLR. And Grizzly peak is in the middle with the castle off to the side - presumably to highlight the newly opened DCA that wasn't doing very well.

Thanks for the info...yeah, I'd like a "retro" choice, too! I thought it'd be like the gift cards, where there are like 5 different choices!
