Renewing Annual Pass and 13 month deal

I searched and cannot find the answer to my question on the Disney website or on the Disboards. Forgive me if I missed an explanation.

My Annual Pass expires in May of 2017. I'm going to WDW in December and, if I can get the extra month, I'd like to renew the AP while I'm there in December -- during the promotion time. Is it possible to renew months early to take advantage of the free month?

Thanks for the help!

Not normally, but I renewed once about 6 months early for a similar reason several years back. Worth asking at guest services.

I thought the window was 60-days on either side of the expiration date. I guess it's worth a shot.

Disney policy "Annual Passes can be renewed up to 60 days before and 30 days after expiration."

But I would check with Guest Relations while you are there since Disney has not been following their published policy on this special offering anyway.

AP newbie here (I have never had one). Is the renewal cheaper than purchasing a new one? What if the OP purchased a new AP and didn't activate it? Is that even possible?

EDIT: just googled and saw there does seem to be a discount (although I didn't see how much discount was). So is the discount better than having an extra month? Guess that's the question for the OP if you can just purchase a new AP and not activate. Seems like it could be a good deal especially if you aren't planning to visit for a few months after your current AP ends.
