Renew or Repurchase AP? Help!

Okay, here's my dilema. My annual pass expires on 9/13/03. I am taking a trip from 9/5-9/14. I am taking another trip 10/23-10/26. I have 1 day left on an old park hopper. So I could not renew my AP, use the 1 day left on the hopper, and then buy a brand new AP and activate it 10/23. Or I can just renew the AP and start using it on 9/14. I know there is a discount if you renew, but I can't remember how much it is. I also am a DC member, but I can't remember how much I paid for my AP last year. For what it's worth, I have a definite trip planned starting 10/23 of next year, so I'm going to run into a similar dilema then. I will plan one more trip between Octobers. So my question to y'all is, would you renew or use the hopper day and buy brand new? And why would you decide that?

I was in the same boat as you and decided not to renew. My pass expired in January and I knew I wouldn't be back (probably) until October.

The discount is not that substantial (for some reason 10.00 or 15.00 comes to mind).

Since you have a day left on a hopper pass, my opinion is let it lapse and buy a new one on your next trip.

I just renewed my PAP yesterday and it was a $47 savings with the renewel rate.

I would definitely renew because your trips are close enough together that it's worth it to get the renewal savings.

Am I reading this correctly, do you get a DC discount on top of the renewal rate? If so then that looks like the most economical choice. Thanks!

Either way, your October 2004 is out of the picture because the AP will have expired before it the October 2004 trip begins even if you wait 'til 10/23/03 to renew for this year's October trip (10/23/03-10/22/04). You might as well save the unexpired park hopper until a later time and reap the savings ($10.65/AP renewal with DC discount) this year.

I just got my renewal notice. The new price with DC is $377.01, the renewal price is $339.74.
