Reneging on my agreement

After 9 years of RVing in a fifth wheel DH got tired of setting up, breaking camp and driving the rig. He wanted luxury and pampering, and convinced me to sell our camper, at first to get a toyhauler so we could get a golf cart, but after we sold he said it would be cheaper to spend the money on hotel rooms rather than RV payments. He was right, I couldn't deny it. But without a camper, I slowly started to lose my mind.

I started going to RV shows and dealers, at first without DH, but he started coming with me. None of the toyhaulers seemed right, but I fell in love with a front living room Montana. I'm driving 6 hours north on Saturday to purchase it. DH likes it too. It satisfies his need for luxury and keep his wife happy.

My ex wife was the big camper in our family and the kids and I were and still are not fond of it. We did a 4 week trip across the US and to FW in 08 and after 3 days at FW we were done. We were supposed to stay there a week and a half but that was our last stop on the trip and it was over for the kids and I at that point. We called over and booked a 2 bdrm at OKW using our DVC points lol.

My RV has a big comfy bed, central AC, but no room service but a full kitchen. And while I would rather travel with it, I sometimes do fly and use a hotel or resort. Most of those times its for work, but even vacation since I cannot take enough time off to travel west, my only options are to fly and do hotels. But it is nothing close to as comfortable as my own home.

Best of luck on the front livingroom model. Always liked the Montana floorplan, but it was never enough to pull the trigger. And for many of my own reasons the Primetime I bought fits the bill exactly. I just spent last weekend in it and will be out camping again in 2 weeks. Hopefully by then we wont be seeing any snow....like we have on the ground today.

Not at all to each their own I just find those things far more important to me. My kids are the same way we did the long camping trip with my ex wife because she loved to camp. By the last portion of the trip at Disney the kids and I had enough and it was not going to end well if we stayed in the tent trailer one more night.

You're right, to each their own, what you find important, maybe the rest of us don't, we just don't go to the resort boards and tell everyone how bad it is to stay in a motel. the last time I post on this thread, bye.

Comparing a popup camper to a resort does zero justice on this thread. She is not discussing a popup or tent camper. She is discussing a 40' long 5th wheel with a high level of trim, dual AC systems but the floor plan is a design of the living area is in the front rather then the bedroom. It is around the same square footage of most (not all) resort rooms. Its not camping in the tradition sense but it is RVing.

Been camping in a Prevost class A diesel pusher and didn't like that either so it really makes no difference to us what form of camping it was it is the camping itself we do not care for. My mom made my sister and I tent camp as kids and I think that is where my distaste for camping of all kinds came from lol. My ex wife loved camping so I would go with as compromise is all part of marriage but it was not my fav thing to do for sure.

Um... It's actually got quite a bit more square footage than all but the suite-level hotel rooms at WDW.

Why would someone who dislikes camping so much decide to post several negative posts on a Camping thread of all places. I don't think any of us can be convinced that hotels are better, so what's the point?

We all love the Fort (and camping) and don't want the hotels or we could be there - we really enjoy the freedom of our lives, but you are more than welcome to enjoy the hotels that you'd rather be in. We have all the conveniences that we need.

Hope you are able to get your 'dream' RV. It's not the 'way of life' for everyone, but for those that like it there's no 'other' way!

I don't really know why I'm dignifying this with a response, except....

My 5'er has a full kitchen, comfy KING size bed (which most WDW resorts do not), central air, and the fort does have a pool with a waterslide. So, I'm only missing a Jacuzzi tub and room service. No big deal.

I have a jacuzzi tub in my house and never use it. But I do use the jacuzzi/hot tub at the Fort when I'm there.
