RENDEZVOUS AT THE FORT - The Fort Wilderness DISMeet Trip Report October 2020

I got some labels printed out that we can use for nametags for the meet on Monday, I'll give those out with the stickers (just in case some folks don't know others names). I'll bring a sharpie too so we can write names on them.

Relaxing day today. Took a stroll to TCD when it was open. then walked around a bit. I will say visit at night too. The place is beautiful.

walked to the pool. It was pretty crowded. Came back and changed Mallory’s bandage. Now outside enjoying a beverage.

since we had a big breakfast, we skipped lunch. Will be an early dinner. Steaks on the grill.

We left at 3 am and made our fuel stop in Raphine,, VA as the sun came up.

We arrived in South Carolina today at 3pm. Settled in for the night. Hit a bump so hard today, fan broke.

Bigger issue is AC not blowing cold, so have to make a pitstop tomorrow and get it fixed. Hopefully will not set us back too long, only 5 hours of travel time tomorrow.
Campsite tonight. 121165247_3618375848184038_1575414464531300935_n.jpg

This is Mrs Tiggerdad (for Tiggerdad). Update on our progress so far. We just made it through Tallahassee. P

Crossed into Florida and diesel prices were $2.54.

Well we are finally tucked in at Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont for the night.

This was us in the parking lot at Burger King for lunch.

Traffic south of Atlanta was frustrating. Coming to a stop, waiting sixty seconds, then starting again. (right there where the express lanes are closest to the city). Happened two more times before things opened up just above Macon. I know it was a Friday morning and going home in the other direction will be on a Sunday but it makes me consider alternative routes.

Oh and the blown tire on the tow vehicle was fun.

At least it stopped smoking by the time I got it in the car. So I am going to be in search of new tires this week since the spare is now in service - thus I currently have no backup. Thank goodness for the GDOT Roadside Service that cruises the interstate helping folks like me. Very professional. It happened about 20 miles north of Valdosta.

Lots of rain (heavy at times) Valdosta to Gainesville off and on.

20 minute stop in place below Lake City on I75 for no visible reason once we got going again. Heavy traffic around Gainseville (going home time on a Friday afternoon).

Stopped at Moe's in Clermont for some takeout dinner and got checked in at LLSP before the ranger office closes at 730pm (currently). We are in #1 next to a lake with a pier and the comfort station. The good Lord really outdid himself with the sunset picture he left us tonight. (oh hey and thanks for sending the roadside service guy my way too).

Popped the camper up and AC running. Tired, worn out, may not leave crack of dawn tomorrow. Although I will cruise by tiggerdad's site and blow the horn :drive: if his truck is still there when I leave in the morning.

What a meet this is headed to be! Loving following along. Here at local campground for Columbus Day weekend with Halloween activities. Not quite the fort DIS meet... will just have to pretend I’m on loop 1100 virtually and very safely socially distanced, I guess... have a blast all!! Will be following along... anyone know how to do live video feed? Lol... enjoy from CT 👍😃⛺⛺⛺⛺⛺

Today was our first park day. We hit MK right after park opening at 9. Got on Buzz's Space Ranger Spin. Ian's friend maxed out the scoreboard. 999,999. He's not sure what magic target he hit. Space Mountain after that. It was showing 40 minutes. Was closer to 30. After that, most rides were 45-60 minutes.

Two words for today, hot and busy. It was upper 80s to about 90, humidity was high and the parks felt busy for Covid. It seemed like a normal September day. Crowds a 4 out of 10. Masks were enforced and most people seemed to be trying to social distance, at least in line queues. Not as much just walking around.

Dinner was our first time at California Grill. It was pretty good. The menu was pretty limited. A Covid thing I suspect. We made it back to the Fort about 7 and spent the evening at Tigger92662's site talking, drinking and taming Joe's new dog.

We just checked in to our hotel in Orlando. Rain was rough around Madison and several wrecks. Will be at Walmart at 8 for our grocery pickup, hitch up my camper from the in-laws house and then on to the Fort. Hope to be there around 9/9:30. Cannot wait to see you all!!

Made it in to Lake Louisa. I managed to squeeze rig in and have enough space to not have to disconnect from truck.

Since Eddie Van Halen recently passed away XM channel 27 is non stop Van Halen music. DDs got a lot of listening on this trip.

Ed, I have 3 girls that will have to get ready in the morning so we won't be able to leave early. I will be up around 6. I've got them to agree to be ready to pull out by 8. I'll have to depend on someone to spot my site to see if the squatters leave. If not, we'll park in overflow and ride the bikes.

My mom is house sitting for us. She got large container of spaghetti and we brought some of it for supper tonight.

I'll be up sipping coffee in the morning.
