Renderings (possible slide sighting)

This is an enhanced version of part of the photo that was in the OS....

Still looks like the same slide to me. It's not as obvious, but it matches the layout from the official site renderings.

Thanks to your blown up shot and Dan's GIANT RED arrow and circle ;) I do see the slide too :)

Looks cool :)

What is "zero entry"?

JC, it's where the shallow end of the pool has no ledge, only a gentle slope that goes gradually from dry ground into the shallow water... from zero depth into the water depth of the pool. The zero depth entry area can be either concrete (most common) or sand, as it is in part of YC/BC's StormAlong Bay pools. Either way, it's very nice for families with the youngest of children (no ledge for the little ones to trip over).

Any thoughts on How much we think these points will go for? And When?
Taking info from past announcements as well as past experience with DVC, I'd expect the resort will be ready to occupy by mid 2004. That should put sales early 2004 or maybe even slightly before that. I'd agree that it's looking like $88 is a pretty good guess for early sales with an increase by around the time it actually opens to $90 pp or higher. Factors that may affect the decisions include how fast BCV actually sells out, whether VB and HH are truly sold out by then and whether DVD plans to remain the the timeshare business by moving forward with Eagle Pines.

My guess is SP will have the same ending date of 2042 but if EP happens and it is in the scale they perviously announced, I would expect it to have an adjusted ending date of around 50 years. If that happens, I think an extension of the current DVC MAY be offered for a fee. I'd put that fee at some where around $15 per point early on. Why so low?, guaranteed guests for WDW and paid upkeep of the resorts for essentially no cost to Disney.

excuse my ignorance but, what is the expected size of the Eagle Pines Resort. You stated it like it is going to be HUGE.

Is it going to be the size of OKW?????

I'm sure someone has the announcement info handy but it was over 600 rooms including Grand Villas and yes it would be larger than OKW.

Here's a link to the old press release:
http://www.wdwmagic.com/dvceaglepines.htm

This is old news but received this today from DVC as part of the Member Clubhouse newsletter:
Expansion of Disney Institute professional development programs
to convention resorts across Walt Disney World Resort property
eliminated the need for a dedicated Disney Institute resort.
When the resort opens in Spring 2004, it will feature 184
proposed Disney Vacation Club ownership accommodations in four
3- and 4-story residential-style buildings. Studios, one- and
two-bedroom villas and Grand Villa units are planned, along with
a theme pool, playground and barbeque pavilion. Preparation for
construction has already begun with the removal of existing
townhome structures on the 16-acre site slated for Disney
Vacation Club units. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is
planned to be a part of the Disney Vacation Club neighborhood

Doesn't mention anything about the Treehouses,Bungalows,FairwayVillas,GrandVistahomes.

So OKW will still be the one DVC resort bringing up the rear as far as having a main pool area that offers something for all ages, ie., a slide for the young and young at heart.

very nice!!! I love the colors.

I guess the one thing we know for sure is that the ARTIST wants to have a slide!

Or in the front from a relaxation points of view. Regardless of cost, I personally would rather NOT have a slide. If I have the need for one I'll either Pool Hop or stay at one of the other DVC resorts. Overall, OKW owners did not want a pool per the overwhelming results of the last survey performed for and published by DVC.

I edited out my fruedian slip.

Of course, he meant slide. But a survey doesn't change the fact that the OKW main pool area offers nothing for the entire family the way ALL of the other DVC resorts currently do and, as it appears, in the future will continue to do so. But as long as they have the lowest dues in the system.....

You are really having a problem with this aren't you? Some like slides, others do not. You could say the same about almost any aspect of any DVC resort. There are things I like about every resort and other things that I don't care for. You obviously don't like OKW not having a slide, that's ok and you've made that point. However, since that's the way things are and what you bought into, it's time to accept the realities. OKW is part of DVC. OKW doesn't have a slide. OKW owners can trade into your home resort that does have a slide just as you can trade into OKW. I prefer OKW as many others do and prefer it without a slide regardless of dues. You seem to think most people own there simply to use the points to stay at your resort and that in some way this is harmful to you or DVC.

I have never been rude to a single poster on these boards. Thank you for talking down to someone you don't know and explaining to me how the DVC works, I really had no idea. I have a few problems in life as most of us do but the OKW resort's lack of a slide isn't one of them, that is called a fact, not a problem. I don't have all the answers but I am amazed that you are able to ascertain my feelings about so many things. All of that doesn't change the fact that the OKW resort's main pool is the least family oriented of all the current and, most likely, any future DVC resorts.
