Removing Food/Drink from Concierge Lounges

I am surprised to hear AKL was enforcing an only one drink can leave the lounge per person rule. Fascinating.

We have not stayed there but have stayed CL at both YC and BC several times, where there did not seem to be any such rule. We were routinely encouraged (and assisted) to take back whatever we needed to the room. (But we did not test the stroller strategy. :rotfl:)

It sounds as though since I stayed at the Polynesian in 2003 they have come up with a few policies (limiting the number of drinks you can take, requiring guests to ask for bottled beverages, no trays, smaller plates) to prevent what went on back then with people bringing mass quantities back to their rooms. And I mean they were carrying LADEN trays.

And NOT eating them. Late evening you could slalom at the hallways between the trays with half eaten and almost rotten food in the Florida heat.
Personnel I'm glad there are no trays any more.

When we use something in the room from the lounge I bring the plates and silverware back to the kitchen.

I think it's absolutely fine to take snacks back to the room. I stay Poly CL and although I do eat in the lounge some, I can't stand the noise of the tv ruining the perfect view. I always have a Lagoon View room and I eat outside watching the World wake up, play and go to sleep at night from my balcony. MUCH NICER atmosphere than sitting in the lounge. Sure occasionally I sit in the lounge and people watch but generally the balcony and my breakfast, appetizers, dessert, wine or Diet Coke are my preference.

I take my dishes back to the lounge as I can't stand them sitting my room or out in the hallway.

I love to take my coffee, toast and one slice of cheese outside and eat at the pool. Very, very early with only the ducks, lizards and squirrels for company.

I don't know if it is still enforce now. My DH was so embarassed at being stopped we haven't tried since.

As it has been said, the plates are small and trying to carry back a plate and a drink to your room can be tricky. Expecially if you are staying at AKL (the CL rooms are on the 4th floor and the lounge is on the 6th. With the lounge being at the front of the resort and CL rooms are either savanna view or pool view at the back of the resort. For us it is just easier to eat in the lounge and maybe take a whole piece of fruit or a soda back with us.
