Removing candle wax

Does anyone know how to get hardened candle wax out of the glass holder? I swear there is a shortcut other than the ole butter knife.

Put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes. It will pop right out.

Pop it in the freezer.

Before placing another candle in the holder, spray with pam or a drop of oil. Placing in the freezer usually gets the old wax out.

Freezer works wonders--even on the expensive crystal. I haven't used oil, does it leave a film on the crystal?
