Today while I was out DH took a phone call from MS reminding us to bank our points by May 31. It was a person, not a computer call. I don't ever remember this happening before. And we don't even have any points left to bank. Has anyone else received these calls?

Never happened to us. Are you sure that it was Disney who called?

I wonder if they are getting a lot of calls from the newer members who forgot to bank and are asking for an exception.

While I think this is a nice service, it's not one I want or need. I also think they could give the callers a better list - one that is scrubbed of those who have already banked or have no points left to bank.

Yes. I checked caller ID. And even stranger is that the call was at 5:07 PM CDT, which would be after MS closes.

Not to make you worry, but caller ID is real easy to fake and there are websites on the internet that will fake your call for free. Never give out your info unless the caller provides you with a ton of info to prove who they are.

Earlier in the afternoon I got a call from MS about something else and the points banking call was the same number except for 1 digit, so I think it was just another extension. Maybe not, but it seems legit to me. Luckily I am the only one who deals with DVC so DH doesn't know any info to give out! :rotfl2:

Interesting. I wonder if it was just a courtesy call because you talked to them earlier that day.

I wouldn't mind seeing an automated email reminder, which would cost virtually nothing, but to have MS call every member could get expensive in employee time. And I assume marketing would not be paying for it.

This may be correct. The earlier call was from a CM at MS to whom I had sent some candy because she was so incredible in helping me. Maybe she called but if she knew my use year then she should have known I have no bankable points.
I agree that robo-calls would be a good thing.

Interesting, and completely agree that email, predictive dialer or txt message reminders would be nice, inexpensive services. My guess is that they may be taking a hit in member satisfaction surveys when MS reps don't let people bank past their banking deadline. Plus, with the influx of new members buying resale, it could be a proactive move. In all honesty, while reps calling is too expensive of an option, the thought behind the reminder is a nice customer service play and is really industry standard. Just to give you an example, I purchased some things through eBay over Christmas and earned some eBay bucks. They were getting ready to expire, and I received an automated reminder call that if not used by midnight the next day, they would expire.
