Remembering extinct foods

Cute thread!

Anyone remember Funny Face Drink Mix? It was a Kool-Aid rip off in flavors like Choo Choo Cherry, Injun Orange, Goofy Grape & "With it" Watermelon. With enough proof of purchases, you could even order mugs that resembled the faces of the characters on the packets!

Yes! They were cheaper than Kool-Aid, too. They had to be - my mom never bought 'the good stuff'!

Candy Cigarettes (puffed on them like they were real);)
Fizzies
Bubble Gum Cigars
Cherry Mash (Yum):)
Necco Wafers
Wax Lips
:cloud9:

You can still get the candy cigarettes, at least here in NC. They are now called candy sticks and don't have the red part at the end. We get them at the Dollar Tree.

Y'all have made me nostalgic for the Jack&Jill Ice cream truck that came through my neighborhood back in the day:lovestruc

Let's see here:
Candy Sugar. 2 or 3 different flavors of sugar that you dipped into with a stick you could eat the end.

Orange creamsickles were awesome. And the pushpops: Just push the ice cream up a cardboard tube as you licked.

And I remember these red/white & blue pops too. Can't remember what they were called.

And the ever utilitarian dixie cup.

Dang I miss that bell. Could hear it for block and it stopped right at my house too.:rotfl:

They still make Push-Ups. We have them in our Walmart. And the red/white/blue ones too. I think they are called Firecrackers.

This is a new "extinct" food item for me - Columbo yogart! I found out from the Yoplait company(that apparently bought out Columbo)that they're discontinuing the Columbo line. This is the ONLY kind of yogart I eat(the Cherry Vanilla Columbo Light to be exact)and now it's gonna be out of my life once I finish the 6 containers I still have left. Oh, that makes me so sad - and angry at Yoplait for discontinuing something that's been around here in New England for generations. I've already informed the Yoplait "people" that I'll never buy a product from them - EVER!

I just remembered another one...the cake mix that came with a foil-lined cardboard cake pan and a packet of frosting. I think it was called Stir and Frost or something like that. I'm pretty sure it was a product of the 70's!

I'm trying to lose the ten pounds I put on over the holidays. So naturally I'm having some pretty intense food fantasies(don't ask). I was thinking back to some of my favorite comfort foods that are no more.

Does anyone remember Hostess Chocodiles? I loved them. They were like Twinkies, but with a hard chocolate shell. I really miss them. Apparently, they are only sold on the west coast:confused3. What's that all about?

A cereal I miss is Smurf Berry Crunch. Next to Crunchberries, this was my favorite. Smurf Berry Crunch went extinct around the same time that Saturday morning cartoons went extinct. How sad:sad1:.

Anyone else have happy memories of foods that no longer exist?

I used to love Chocodiles! They must of been sold other places than the west coast because the only time I lived there I was like 3. I remember having them in school lunches. I can't remember if it was when I lived in Hawaii or when we were in Arkansas, possibly even when we lived in Tennessee.

I remember those. I think it was Stir 'n Frost.

I didn't read the whole thread so maybe someone already posted this, but look at this link
http://www.freshchocodiles.com/ you can still buy them, very expensive though

Seriously...what are pudding pops, suzy-Qs and anything else mentioned? Should I put in a complaint to my parents for not giving me high fructose corn syrup? Maybe if they had given it to me earlier in life, I would go crazy with it now.

Honestly, judging from your picture, I think you are just too young. Lucky you LOL

Table talk pies

I'm sure there's more I just can't remember!

Table Talk Pies are still sold. In fact, they are set up at the counter at the supermarket.
I just bought one for my ds about a month ago and he liked it.
It looks just the same still in the box.

Does anyone remember Vienetta ice cream desserts? Those were so good!

I used to like Dreamsicle ice cream bars too.

OMG...my dad used to buy the mint one! SOOOOO good! And no one knows what I'm talking about!

Vienetta...I loved that ice cream. I would get the chocolate and since I was a mean mommy the kids were not allowed to eat any of it.

One thing I really miss is the Ragu Chicken Tonight sauces. We used to get the country french and everyone in the family loved it. My kids were still young then but they still remember it and talk about how good it was.

How about the Double Lollies? They kind of looked like a Smartie on steroids that was put on a lollipop stick.

If you're talking about what I think, you can still order those on line from Oriental Trading! (I love them too.)

And thank you to whoever posted about the Cadbury Curly Wurly bars!!

As as politically incorrect as it sounds, does anyone remember candy cigarettes? (Yes, I ate them; and no, I never moved on to real ones.)

Oh, and bananaberry split bubble gum!
