Thanks for the reminder. Now if I can just remember to go buy a bunch of 2 cent stamps so I can use up the rest of my 37 cent stamps... I've been working on the remains of my Christmas stamps from 2003 and still have about 3 dozen to go. (I really did mean to send out christmas cards that year...)

LONG line at the post office. All other postage services went up too (priority). People were trying to send all their packages before the increase

We bought $5 worth of 2 cent stamps. My grandmother needed some, my dad buys stamps by the boatload and didn't realize there was going to be an increase, and I think I've got about 40 stamps sitting at my apt too. The guy kept asking if I knew how many stamps $5 worth is. I kept saying "yes", and he kept saying, "wow, that's a lot of stamps." He was still shaking his head as I walked out

I thought it was this past Friday, so I stuck the 2-cent stamps on everything I mailed out.. Darn! That's 10 cents I could have used for something else.. LOL

I hope all the sellers on eBay remembered to adjust their shipping costs accordingly!

This is the first increase since 2002, according to the US Postal service website.

I was starting to complain about how expensive it was to mail a letter when one of my friends started to laugh at me. She's lived overseas for 5 years and says that it's way more expensive to mail a letter in much of the world and the mail service is usually a lot less reliable, and a lot of stuff gets "confiscated" (i.e. stolen) in many places. I won't complain anymore - I've had a few things get lost in the mail, but 98% of the time my stuff makes it to its destination in a timely, unharmed manner.
