Hi everyone,
This is my first post! I'm so excited to be at a place where everyone is as Disney crazy as I am :) I'm trying to plan a trip for next year, and my husband is being very cranky about it. He's from Germany, and his idea of WDW is that it's something like 6 Flags and that he would hate it. Anyone else have a spouse/friend that you need to convert?? :) I know we'd have a great time once we got there. I'm thinking of WL or AKL to stay, and then just a few days trying interesting restaurants & lazying around the pool reading. Any ideas to get him a bit more positive about planning this trip? It's been over a year since I've been, so I need a fix! :)

Thanks!

~Sarah

It took my fiance awhile , actually until he got there to understand what a magical place DW is! Did he watch the video? Sometimes it helps.

Tell him he gets to critque the BierGarten and the other things at Germany in Epcot to see if the country is done "correctly."

My DH's mother is from Germany so DH took German in high school and college. When we were reading the book about the shops in Epcot, he said a number of the shops were made-up German words. (Der TeddiBar)

Men always know better so this is an opportunity for your DH to prove that and to have a few beers.

DH actually had to win ME over--I couldn't understand why he wanted to go back. I grew up in FL and always thought WDW was pretty ho-hum.

Does your DH like live entertainment? That's our favorite part of WDW--going to Epcot, having a couple of adult beverages, and watching the Beatles tribute band in the UK, the acrobat in France, Mo' Rockin' and the belly dancer in Morocco, Off Kilter in Canada, etc. Then we eat at a World Showcase restaurant and soak up the atmosphere. :flower:

We also like the band in MGM (forget their name), the Indiana Jones stunt show in MGM, the world-class bird show in AK, walking around the Boardwalk area, etc.

If it is any encouragement... my mom is from Germany and her brothers have both come to WDW and loved it. They had enough of the rides fairly quickly but they really enjoyed Epcot and AKL. They love to walk, when my uncle comes over every other year he walks about 6 miles every morning. My cousin laughed at the idea of WDW because his girlfriend (who was unfortunately with him) expressed her belief that all Americans were tacky and materialistic. They wanted to come back and visit again (they must have liked something about us) but my parents were out of town that month

I think your husbad will love WDW, as my skeptical husband has. Please let us know how it goes. If you book the AKL try and do the concierge at least one night so you can book the morning safari..it is unique and beautiful.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! :) I know that if I can just get him to WDW we will have a great time!

I enjoy DisneyWorld so much more as an adult. Let your husband know there are plenty of "adult" things to do. For instance, there is Cirque du Soleil, Pleasure Island clubs, massages, golf, parasailing, Richard Petty Driving Experience, Victoria and Alberts and numerous fine dining options, shopping, pontoon boats, beaches at some of the resorts, ESPN club and on an on.

I remember twisting my father's arm for years to go with me. I am a DVC owner and he really wanted nothing to do with Disney. My wife was all for the idea of having a "guys" father and son trip. To make a long story short, on the last day of our trip, he started crying as he left the hotel. When we were at the airport he asked me when we were going again.
