We are in the process of selling our home and relocating to the Orlando area. We have a unique situation since my dh works from home, we homeschool our children, and our oldest dd just finished her first year of college. We would like to be within an hour or so of the parks, good shopping, homeschool groups, and a college with a good nursing program for our oldest DD. (priorities! ha) Being close to a good college is top on the list, coupled with a safe, suburban area that isn't too congested. I've been looking at Oviedo and like it's proximity to UCF downtown. I'm not sure what kind of traffic my dd would have to endure however. We've seen there are several community colleges that partner with UCF for their nursing programs and that is a viable option we would consider. Specifically, we've been looking in Clermont, Oviedo and Lake Nona areas. We are considering leasing a home for a year to get a feel for where we need to be, but would not count out buying. We would like a 4b/2ba with a bit of spread between houses so no townhomes/condos. Can anyone provide input? Thanks so much!

I am looking to relocate to the area too at some point, and have ultimately decided that I want to live in Lake Nona. I was thinking how perfect it seemed to be with all of the things you were listing. I know I am young, and I do not have a family, but I read online that they have a great school district, although that wouldn't matter if your kids are homeschooled.

The area seems extremely new, and they are still working on putting the finishing touches on a lot in LN. The only downside is the proximity to the airport, I've never been there but the noise could maybe be too much. It seems like a great area, and I've read nothing but good things about it. Also, if you're into tennis the USTA headquarters will be stationed there in 2016. And you'll most likely be surrounded by medical professionals due to the area it's in. \

Here is Lake Nona's website, including some new homes they have just built. I was looking at the apartment complex myself, so I'm not too sure about leasing/buying opportunities when it comes to a home. http://www.lakenona.com/live/laureate-park/

Hope this helps!

From the website, Lake Nona looks really nice. The new hospitals, restaurants and tennis facility will make it a very desirable place to live. I'd suspect there will be upper and lower tiers of housing, but even the lowest looks nice. If you're going into healthcare, that looks like an excellent place to be!

I am not going into that field, but it sure looks like a nice neighborhood. :)
