Religion.

Live how you wanna live. It doesn't affect me.
Personally, I think they look like they came out of 'Little House on the Prairie'.

Now, if we're talking about the FLDS polygamists who impregranted hundeds of young girls, we'll we're not going to go there.
I don't think I know enough foul words to describe my anger at these people. ;)
No, haha, I wasn't talking about the FLDS themselves. Just the style of living.

I could go on for pages about those polygamists, I think you guys know how strongly I am against child rape.

Oh, and Shelby! That's great that you've found where you want to stand religiously. I'm happy for you. :goodvibes

I think I've found the direction where I'm going religiously. I want to follow God, and I believe what God says, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I believe everything that man said God said. I know enough about science and particularly human physiology to know that there has to be something else out there. There is no way, in my opinion, that everything in the human body just came to be. It had to be started somewhere. I believe that evolution is real. I think its ignorant to ignore the fact that things evolve every day. I know enough about plants to tell you that that's true. I've seen one breed of roses become two and those two become four. Evolution is real, and I find that the people who don't believe in it don't understand it. **** sapiens are one amino acid sequence (one difference in that sequence, btw) away from apes. That is not coincidental, in my opinion.

I believe that God loves everyone, and He is the only one able to judge anyone, so I will not judge anyone's choices that don't harm me or anyone/thing else.

I've found where I want to be religiously, and this thread has given me a lot to think about, and it's really helped. Thank you all for participating.

Shelby, that's awesome to hear that you've found where you want to stand religiously. It doesn't seem like your beliefs have changed, as far as what you believe scientifically which is great. If that makes sense. But it's great anyway! :)

I have a question for you guys (not trying to offend anyone).

What do you guys think of those very very conservative religious people? You know, the people who don't cut their hair and wear very conservative dresses or long skirts. Something like how the FLDS polygamists in texas dress.

So, what are your opinions about them?

That is part of their culture, and I respect it, however it isn't for me.

I think you all know my beliefs..;)

Shelby, I'm glad you've found a happy medium between science and religion. I still struggle with combining the two concepts.

Just because science has "proved" something, doesn't neccessarily mean it's true. I know that I can believe what's in the bible, and I can't rely on science.

Why do you CONSTANTLY go on about Mr.Grabiel's beliefs? Like honestly, you wrote down that you can't say something because you'll get banned...You actually have something that bad to say to someone just because they're telling you what they believe? THAT'S sad, not the fact that we believe more in the bible than science.

And I feel very strongly on the subject of other people not accepting what others believe. You're just...UGH you're making me want to pull my hair out by attacking others! Just stop already, my goodness. We're not hurting you are we? So stop trying to attack our beliefs.

In science this year at least...we only talked about one thig. We talked about evolution twice and both times me and another kid in my close spoke up and said we didn't believe in it. It didn't turn into an "attack someone else's beliefs" thing like on here....but it became a great discussion on what we thought happened and more.

I'm sorry, but to me it's just so stupid it makes me want to pull my hair out.

i'm glad too. its hard to mix them, but it finally all started making sense when i opened up my mind and looked at all i know scientifically.

But Mr.Gabriel isn't accepting what they believe either.

From what I read, it doesn't seem like he's trying to make his non-belief in science more important than what anyone else believes about science? But maybe that's just me...

Hm, I don't know. I'm not in this one, it was just an observation. :)

Christian.
Church of Christ.

I go to a Christian college (although the only thing Christian is that we have to go to chapel and take a Bible class).

I have never doubted my faith, and it has been a huge blessing for me whenever I am in need of help.

Mmkay, its spelled Gabriel.

Other than that, thank you for defending me. [:

Some of these posts actually make me glad that none of my immediate family are religious:sad2:

Anyways I actually have a question for ya'll.
In history we were discussing religion and our teacher asked us if any of us were religious. One of the girls came out with well i'm half catholic. Now forgive me but i thought that religion is something you choose to follow and believe and is not inherited in the same way nationality is. I could see how if a child was born into a say mormon family they would be raised up to follow the religion but it's still not really inheritance and should that child choose to leave that religion and convert to christianity then would they really be half mormon?
See that's my way of thinking but as our over-enthusiastic RS teacher said different people think in different ways.

I remember having to go to church in Primary School about once a month, and we'd sing hymns every week. Then when I went to Secondary School, I did't understand why we weren't doing that anymore. Then I found out the CoE in the school's title meant Church of England... I figured that out when I was 12 :p

Haz, I think she might mean like one parent is catholic and the other is athiest, so she would believe she is half catholic?

well, i don't go to church anymore but i was baptised catholic :)
