Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

Hi Leslie,
You and Marc will staying at the Poly.....we just stayed there for my DH's 40th bday...

We stayed in Fiji....first floor room. We faced the Marina....which we found quite considering guests are renting Sea Racers, and the kid's Pirate cruise left from there, etc. We were near the luau building, but with the TV on we didn't hear anything...with no TV you can hear some drumming...but it's not constant...didn't stop us from napping!

It was a short walk to Captain Cook's and the Volcano pool...the 'quiet pool' was a little further, we went to that pool most of the time since it was less crowded.

Don't forget to watch the 'torch lighting' ceramony in the main lobby (you end up outside the main entrance for part of the show) at 6pm - it's cool to see.

The upstairs gift shop had good snacks and large bottles of water...the down stairs gift shop has some cute clothes and accessories...
If you have any questions, feel free to ask....

That's flippin GREAT!!!!!!! (and I was right - yeah me!) Now we are one monorail resort stop away from one another. I was just posting how I was considering pool hopping over there because we can do that on the DVC stay and I have always thought the Poly pool is WAY cool!

There are a lot of opportunities for us to run into each other. I was also thinking that you guys might want to watch Wishes from the Top of the World Lounge one night. I know you have been staying away from a strict schedule, but I am really looking forward to watching from up high.

Anyway - congrats on the upgrade. That's fantastic!

So much great information!! I didn't realize that had a torch lighting ceremony, I really need to do more research on the Poly! I don't think I knew they had a quiet pool either! :rotfl2: I really need to go do some research!

Hehehe, flippin great. :rotfl:

I was thinking the same thing!! We will have so many chances to meet. We should exchange cell #'s so we can play it by ear.

I'd love to watch from the Top of the World Lounge, but I thought you had to be DVC to do that?? Am I wrong?? :confused3 Their food menu sounds so freaking yummy!

I am so excited for you. The Poly is my dream resort.
I'm really excited. I never thought I'd be able to stay there. :dance3:

I debated for about three days....then I DID IT. :yay:

Switch on 9/13 to the POLYNESIAN for 2 nights.

We have the standard garden view room. I'm happy with that. You know what makes me even happier? 9/13 is the only night MSEP is showing, so it will be super easy to head over to MK for that, then 9/14 is MNSSHP and we will be right there again!

I think this calls for some Polynesian pictures!

Be still my heart!!!
I love the Polynesian!
I can't see the pictures, since I am at school, but I will see them tonight.
It adds a whole new excitement to your trip! :woohoo:

Adding the two nights at the end is just awesome. When we added to two Wilderness Lodge days, it was so nice. We had a beautiful place to relax and have some down time in. My dream is to add two Poly nights to the end of a trip in the next few years. Eight nights of fun and games at Pop and then two nights of relaxing time at Poly. Jill has to get her Boardwalk dream fulfilled first, but after that - Poly, here we come!

Congratulations on your news!

Yay for the Poly!! I think that sounds just perfect for your relaxation trip! Very romantic and beautiful, not to mention convenient for your last two days with MK! I had to laugh when you said you already told Marc! I can't keep things like that to myself either! I can keep small secrets from the kids to surprise them, but not DH!
I have wanted to stay there for a while but we keep finding other places to try. I hope next time I get a good discount offer, I can use it there!

Dump shops - I have gotten to the point where I hardly pay attention to them any more! Isn't that horrible? I like the Mexico shops after the Gran Fiesta Tour, because they have the fun big hats! But I hardly stop in them after a ride now. Guess I didn't slow down much. I mostly shop on Main Street, or World Showcase or free standing shops like Mousegears or at DTD, so I sort of ignore the dump shops. But then I don't ride TOT or EE and those sound like good ones to check out!

Oh, LL!!! I am just giddy with excitement for you about your stay at the Polynesian!!! :yay::yay::yay:

Just think how much fun it will be going to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot by monorail while you are there!!!

I think you need to make some Hawaiian themed shirts for your stay there!

OOOH good idea!! more cool shirts!!

THE POLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3: (that was not my second guess - it was a Wishes Cruise. The Poly is so.much.better!)

Seriously! Such a great resort, so beautiful! Both Joe and I want to stay there sometime....:cloud9: It's completely romantic, fun, beautiful and convenient all rolled up into one rockin' resort. I think you are gonna love it! Plus, how perfect does that fit in with the plans you have???!?!? Woot! I'm so excited for you!

Think of your night swims in the Volcano Pool! :goodvibes

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Swimming below a smoking volcano with pretty music in the background...ahhhhh.

As for the Top of the World that MEK mentioned, since she is DVC she can bring her guests with her - you and Marc would be her guests. :thumbsup2

The Poly!!!!! I'm so glad to hear Marc's favorite night.... my next PTR update will sound very familiar!

I'd love to watch from the Top of the World Lounge, but I thought you had to be DVC to do that?? Am I wrong?? :confused3 Their food menu sounds so freaking yummy!

You do - but I was thinking that you and Marc could come up there with Jen and I, so that's one of the possible places where we could meet. I think it would be a great idea for a meet since its a place that we might not have a chance to get into again. Who knows when I will ever stay at BLT again.

What a great surprise! I am super excited for you. I would never have been able to keep it a secret either! :rotfl:

WOOT WOOT!! YAY for 2 nights at POLY!! You and Marc are so going to have a great time!! I cannot wait to stay there someday LOL!!! You have to love being that close to MK!!!!!!

I thought for sure that I was right about the carriage ride, but two nights at the Poly sounds a lot better. It's such a beautiful resort. I'm sure you both will love it. We stayed there one night almost ten years ago and enjoyed it.

It really does add a whole new excitement to our trip. I also love that is kinda last minute, it just makes the excitement even better.

You will get to the Poly someday. I'm with Jill though, Boardwalk is high on my list too. I'm so excited Jen & I are staying there in January.

I'm awful with surprises, I just can't contain myself.

The Mexico shops are a good one, too. I love the dump shops for some reason, I'm such a sucker for them.

:lmao: No more shirts!! I still haven't ironed the two I need to make. I'm so nervous I'm going to ruin them. :scared1:

OOOH good idea!! more cool shirts!!
Noooooooo. :rotfl2: Don't tempt me with cute ideas of Lilo & Stitch shirts.

I thought about doing the tour at DHS, or a Wishes cruise or a photo session but when it came down to it, I wanted to splurge a bit. Marc was really surprised and excited, so it's worth it. Plus 2 nights at the Poly lasts sooooooooo much longer than a tour.

That is awesome about the Top of the World lounge. Must talk to MEK!

The Poly!!!!! I'm so glad to hear Marc's favorite night.... my next PTR update will sound very familiar!
Oooh, can't wait to read it!

That would be so awesome. I'm dying to check out BLT and I could pretend I'm a VIP like you. :rotfl2: What night would work for you?? I was thinking Sunday night, since Monday night is the only night for MSEP...if they add it on another night then that wouldn't be a problem. Just let me know. :goodvibes

What a great surprise! I am super excited for you. I would never have been able to keep it a secret either! :rotfl:
I'm awful about secrets. I really am. I didn't last 5 hours! :rotfl:

WOOT WOOT!! YAY for 2 nights at POLY!! You and Marc are so going to have a great time!! I cannot wait to stay there someday LOL!!! You have to love being that close to MK!!!!!!
I'm soooooooo excited. Especially about being so close to MK and even Epcot. That is where we are thinking we'll spend the majority of our last days so it is PERFECT.

I thought for sure that I was right about the carriage ride, but two nights at the Poly sounds a lot better. It's such a beautiful resort. I'm sure you both will love it. We stayed there one night almost ten years ago and enjoyed it.
Marc guessed a carriage ride at first too. I think he's much happier about the nights at Poly. We still might do a carriage ride though but it will be a last minute decision.

Do you know that point where you are so close to your trip but you still feel like it's NEVER going to get here? I'm at that point. It's making me a little cranky. I feel like I've been waiting forever for this vacation and it's never going to get here. I know I'm being a big baby but there you go. I need a break. I think it's time to put the countdown in perspective....

29 days until we check into the Polynesian!! :dance3:

24 more days until Disney & Riverside!!!

19 days until my vacation from work begins. That is something to celebrate! ;)

14 more work days. I think I can...I think I can...

8 more classes. One of which will be a final on a Saturday so that means it will be a very short class. PLUS I have only that 1 Saturday class until Disney.

3 more work Mondays, 4 more Mondays total.

3 more weekends. Yikes! I have a lot to do in those weekends. :scared1: One of which is to celebrate my Birthday. :woohoo:

That makes me feel so much better.

Sorry for the lack of a countdown yesterday. I had a busy day with school, errand running and Frontierville playing on Facebook. I'm completely addicted. I think it's because it's so mindless. It's a nice escape.

I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm hungry so we are going to countdown food! We'll revisit some of the best we ate in '08. We talked about the appetizers so far, so let's chat about best bread and best entree.

Best Bread.

We have the same answer....Kona Cafe. *drool* I believe it is a Sweet Bread with Macadamia Honey Butter. If you want the recipe, click here! It is seriously good.

Best Entree.

Marc - Tofu Bowl from Hollywood Brown Derby: with wok fried coconut tofu, soy beans, sugar snap peas, bok choy and shiitake mushrooms in a red curry broth

IMG_1040.jpg

If you remember I orginally ordered this and when our entrees came out, we both looked at each other and switched. Just like out of the movies! We had never done that before and haven't since. I was meant to eat....

SALMON POLENTA!!

IMG_1038.jpg

Let me count the ways that I love thee.....

1. You are delicious.
2. You are delicious.
3. You are delicious.
and...
4. You are delicious.

Yup. That about sums it up. I can't believe they took this off the menu. It breaks my hear into a million and one pieces. :sad1:

Basically it was the best salmon that I have ever eaten with polenta and mushrooms, gorgonzola cheese and an olive tapenade. Seriously awesome. My loving husband still makes me bbq chicken polenta sometimes when I beg so I get my polenta fix that way.

So what are your choices for favorite bread and favorite entree??

I am feeling very unprepared for the trip, all of our trip stuff is still all over the place. I need to start getting organized. I'm hoping to make my shirts today, take pictures of my poodle skirt and other trip related things I haven't shown you yet.

Did I mention that I ordered Marc a 50's-ish bowling shirt to wear to MNSSHP? I can't remember. That came in the mail on Friday. It looks awesome, I will take a picture of that as well.

If I get it all done, I'll do another update today. :thumbsup2

WOOT WOOT!! 19 days until vacation you are so close!!! Of course 24 until Disney....but it's coming!!!!!

OOOH Disney food!! I adore Disney food!!!!! As far as best bread, the rolls at Brown Derby get my vote!! They are small warm mounds of heavenly goodness!!!

Best Entree...hmmmm I adore the fish and chips at Rose and Crown!! That is one of my favorite restaurants of all time!!!!

Another great countdown!!!! WOOT WOOT!!

I'm not going to point fingers (YOU!!) have me addicted to Frontierville, do you know how much I have to be getting done in my new house LOL!!!!!

24 days. I know it doesn't feel like it now but it is going to FLY by! Hope you have fun getting things organized/ready today! :)

Favorite bread and/or entree. Hmmm... I don't know. I do like the pretzel bread at Le Cellier (dipped in cheddar soup, of course). I think I remember good rolls at Yachtsman.

As for favorite entree I don't know if I can pick. Going WAY back, I adored the fettucini at Alfredo's.

Can I be a rabble rouser? I want my favorite bread to be the cinnamon roll from the Main St Bakery. It's a bread right? :lmao:

Honestly, I can't remember a favorite bread in particular...which is funny because I'm so carb focused!

And favorite entree? Honestly? I have to pick one...that's like asking me to choose between my children, it's just impossible! :lmao:

Can't wait to see the shirt for Marc, I'll be it looks awesome.
