In March we are bringing our extended family to BCV, we will be in 3 rooms. Will their room cards say DVC on them, and will they be eligible for DVC discounts.

Thanks
Denise

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe if you secured the rooms using points, everyone's cards will say "DVC Member".

That is kind of a grety area. You are supposed to show your Blue Membership card to get any DVC discounts, though most people take the DVC Member printed on a room card as ID enough. They may/may not get the discounts on how strict a particular CM is. Your guests will not qualify for the AP discount though.

Thanks for the info, we probably won't use the DVC discounts much anyway since they are limited and I purchased the DDE card.

Chances are that the only thing you will be asked for a Blue Member card for are any DVC Pins you want to buy and whether you want annual passes (but even that is called into question in a nother thread).

I actually tested this out on my Thanksgiving trip, always offering only the "Key to the World Card" to see what the CM would say and I was only asked for the Blue Card for buying pins.

because DVC pins are limited editions and you can only get them if your a member.

Why would buying DVC pins only be limited to DVC members?

Same reason Annual Pass pins are only for Annual Pass holders. It makes them that much more exclusive.

But anyone can get one all you have to do is see the traders outside the pin store at DTD.

Or you could go on E-Bay. Or you could see my DW and she'd trade with you for something she doesn't have. I suppose that's why they sell two to each DVC member. One to have and one to trade. Hey I don't understand the pin thing myself. MY DW takes care of that for my family.

We have annual passes, but my sister, her husband and child will be joining us in February. Can we get discounted MYW tickets for them there, or are they better off getting the advance purchase price on MYW tickets online???

MOST perks are actually specifically available to guests of members, but not renters. Exceptions would be the golf discount (I think), cash room discount and for most the AP/PAP discount. The dining discounts and the like have been open to guests. Until very recently, the members site said you needed your ID card that said member, now it says and/or. It's only within the last 6-12 months that we've been hearing stories of members being asked for the blue card at all. The current Benefits and Privileges refers to some perks being available to guests.

They are better buying the advance purchase MYW tickets. The only DVC discount on tickets is only the AP and PAP.

I thought I read that somewhere, but couldn't remember for sure.

Thanks for the verification!

Denise,
We don't need to hold our breath and cross our fingers cause, "We've got BEN!" :cool1:
Seriously though...I am very proud of the Steelers this year, regardless of what happens during the playoffs!
