I'm off just Thursday and Friday. My old job we got 1/2 day on Wednesday, plus Thurs/Fri.

I'll be cooking...just the 3 of us. I have everything except the turkey, mushrooms and green beans. I'll go tomorrow to get those things.

What are you guys up to?

Rick is working on Thursday, so I'm going to volunteer to help serve food at kitchens downtown until he gets off work. Then we are going to go to a friend's apartment for a late afternoon Thanksgiving dinner. Friday, though, Rick is going to cook at home. A friend of ours will be coming to our Friday Thanksgiving. No family trips for us this year, but that's okay. With Christmas just a month away, I'd rather save all the hustle and bustle for Christmas.

So, essentially, we're going to have TWO thanksgiving dinners and we don't have to travel far at all.

oh....and then Saturday and Sunday filled with leftovers!! Turkey sandwiches. Stuffing. Cranberry sauce. Gravy and mashed potatoes (yes, in that order, thank you!!). Yummy sweet potato casserole!!

Thanks for the information. I was clicking and waiting, clicking and waiting, clicking and waiting.......

I'll try it now.

I did it and this is what I got...

There are no subscribed threads to display in this folder for this time period.

Huh?

"View all subscribed threads."

Oh, and for 3 people, I'll probably make an 18lb turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing with mushrooms, green beans, corn, apple pie, chocolate pudding...

I'm gonna need a wagon to get my stuffed butt into bed for a nap after all that.

Did Rick show you the pics from vacation? If you want, I can PM them to you. There are lots...and one of "grumpy Rick" wearing a light-up Pluto hat. And he was making fun of me for not jumping right into the dances at Jellyrolls.

oh morning joe.

hi from jules who is home on her lunch break.

Oh, for whoever is interested...

Last night I was standing outside of a restaurant in Manhattan talking to a friend when all of a sudden, coming up the street is a very familiar looking man. I look over my friend's shoulder as he approaches and I'm thinking, "I know him...." But then, as he passes, I realize I don't know him, I just know his face.

It was Josh Lucas, walking past me close enough to nearly rub shoulders.
My friend missed him because I didn't say anything until he had passed.

Yummmmmmy.:cloud9:

Anyone else getting a nice break like that? Are you going to have to do some traveling or are you staying home for the holiday?

What are everyone's Thanksgiving plans?

We don't get any days off. Just a half day on Thanksgiving and dh has to work anyway.
Perhaps next Sunday I will make a dinner.

Henceforth...what a great word. We should really start a movement to reintroduce such words back into daily vocabulary!

Can you think of any other delicious words we need to reincorporate?

Tell Rick I said Heretofore. He likes that one.

I would also like to use fortnight correctly.

Wow, this thread is still around? Rick's panties must be all bunched up by now!!

Rick just finished telling me of your days of archaic language usage in Florida. He laughed out loud when I shouted "Heretofore" to him in the kitchen.

and...get yourself ready...it can be used to describe two weeks ahead or two weeks in the past...

"It was just a fortnight ago that I traveled to Florida." OR
"I shall be venturing to Scotland in just shy of a fortnight."

A fortnight is a unit of time equal to two weeks: that is 14 days, or literally 14 nights. The term is common in the British-Irish Isles and many Commonwealth countries such as Australia where many wages, salaries and most social security benefits are paid on a fortnightly basis.[1] Fortnight is rarely used in North America. The word fortnight derives from the Old English feowertiene niht, meaning "fourteen nights".
